New Coin: Hase & Igel Geocoin (Hare & Hedgehog)

Recommended Posts

We are currently working on a new Version of our Hase & Igel Geocoin.

It has the hare and hedgehog (as yin/yang) on its frontside and the

story of the race between those two is shown (simplified) on its backside.

(This story is similar to the one with the tortoise & hare)

There will be 10 versions (4 RE, 3 LE and 3 XLE) of the coin and 2 extra AE.

We have just received the samples from the factory and still have changes on

4 of the versions because the colors on these didn't work out that nice.

Once they are ready (they are expected in November this year) they will be available

in our store and most likely in some other online-shops (when the time comes I will post a link here).

I have made some pictures of the versions that will go into production as shown.

Would be nice if you could give me some feedback on them :)

Thank you

Do you plan on making your own store available in an English version ?? :)

Usually we don't sell our products online because we only have a very little store that we run in spare-time work.

So I don't quite find the time to translate our website into English and since we didn't ship our products in the past

there actually was no need for it.

But we already have some online-shops that are interested in selling some of our new coins that also ship worldwide,

so that the coins will probably be available in stores with an English version.

In addition I am thinking of opening an english online-store (on FreeWebstore) especially for coins that we will produce.

So there should be a lot of options of getting one of these coins ;)

I will keep you up to date on the this.

Thanks

Love the Day & night, Earth and AE ones, Any indication on the price they will be sold at ?

I hope to be able to sell them at 10 - 12 Euro. At least that is the price I had in mind.

But I still have to wait for the final invoice from the factory.

Is that 10-12 Euro WITH o WITHOUT the VAT if sold/shipped outside the EU ??

This is the price I intend to sell them for here in the EU so that should be with VAT included.

But let us not count chicken before they hatch ;).

I have to get the final invoice first in order to make an actual price for these coins.

I will let you know as soon as I have an update on that.

I would love to add some of these Coins to my collection.

Are they available for sale to ship to the USA?

I already have online-shops that are interested in selling some of those coins in their shops.

One of them is the Cache-Kontor Hamburg that (as far as I know) also ships to the USA.

Our small shop will only ship these coins inside Germany.

Here is an update on the production of the coins:

The coins should have been far ready by now, but the workers in the factory keep on complaning that the coins are so hard to do,

especialy the coloring of the detailed backside. Well they did get the artwork before and they should have known better

On November 18th they had finished 7 of the 12 versions.

Anyway the newes info is that they estimate the shipping of the coins by December 18th. So let us see if they can hold that date.

I will let you know as soon as they are in and also post some pictures of the coins.

The Hase & Igel Geocoins have finally arrived

Set-Sterne-small.jpg

The coin's theme is about a story of a race between the hare and the hedgehog that (so it is said) took place in our home town Buxtehude near Hamburg, Germany.

To make it short, the hedgehog won the race because he used his head rather than run like hell, as the hare did.

You can find the whole story in English here:

http://www.buxtehude.de/v1/upload/Tourismus/Maerchen/hase_und_igel_englisch.pdf

It is a bit similar to the story of the race between the tortoise and the hare that might be a little more popular in the States.

Translated the German motto to the story "Wozu Rasen Lern vom Hasen" means "Why rush, learn from the hare".

As there is no equivalent to this motto in the English language I tried to find something that gets the meaning of it and finally found "USE YOUR HEAD TO SAVE YOUR FEET" which I find perfect for geocaching.

I often see geocachers rushing from cache to cache not finding the time to really understand the way an owner intended the cache to be solved and whose only intension is to retrieve the log (by any means) to achieve certain statistics. Maybe if they find the coin in a cache or see it at an event it might open their eyes a little ;-)

We will sell 10 versions (1-10) of the coin (5 RE, 2 LE and 3 XLE).

1-Spring (Silver)= 65 coins

2-Summer (Gold)= 65 coins

3-Autumn (Copper)= 65 coins

4-Winter (Satin Silver) = 65 coins

5-Vintage Day XLE (Silver/Gold) = 30 coins

6-Vintage Dawn XLE (Antique Bronze) = 30 coins

7-Night & Day XLE (Gold/Black Nickel) = 30 coins

8-Night (Black Nickel) = 65 coins

9-Frost LE (Nickel)= 40 coins

10-Earth LE (Chrome) = 40 coins

11-Buxtehude AE (Satin Gold)= 10 coins

12-Treasure AE (Foggy Silver/Foggy Gold) = 10 coins

• 50mm diameter

• 3mm thick

• custom Icon

• trackable on geocaching.com

As I mentioned before customers inside Germany can buy a limited number of them here starting Januar 11th.

You can already see pictures of the different editions there.

For all others I will post a link to shops that will have our coins in their stores for shipment outside Germany as soon as I know more details.

I promised to give you an info on where to get those coins in case you live outside of Germany.

I will be bringing some few coins (only 90 coins in total) to a local geocachingshop hear in Hamburg

coming Wednesday (01/15/2014). They also ship outside of Germany.

So if you are interested, please contact the store directly.

The store is the Cache Kontor in Hamburg.

Or contact the store owner directly via email.
