60csx battery power issue

Recommended Posts

I haven't used my 60csx in a while. When I pulled it out recently, it seems to have trouble running on battery. Plugged in via USB it works fine. But on battery it sometimes doesn't boot, or randomly turns off.

Googling around it seems like there might be a problem with the battery contacts. I bent them out to make them more "springy" and that seemed to help.

How common is this, and is there a better fix than just bending the battery contacts out?

I had the same problem. I finally broke the contact by bending it, so be careful.

I gave up trying to get a replacement contact and sent it in and paid for a replacement GPSr. I tried aluminum foil as an emergency fix and that worked for a little while.

If you haven't used it in awhile maybe some corrosion built up on the contacts?

Try using some steel wool and rubbing the contacts completely clean.

If it just isn't making proper contact then as baldeagle641 mentioned, aluminum foil may be your next best bet.

Rub the contacts with a pencil eraser or take a little concentrated lemon juice mix on a Q-tip and clean the contacts. I prefer the lemon juice method. The lemon juice method also works really well if a battery has leaked in a device.
