Andypips
Hi, I was wondering what guidelines I should follow if I want to post a photograph when I log a cache. I can't find much about it on the website. Obviously I don't want to give away any clues, so whats the best way to do it? Or is it better not to include a photo at all? Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
jmbillings
Not sure on official guidelines. If I do add a photo I try to compose it so it's not giving away any secrets. Having said that, there's a warning in the header above the logs and "view gallery" link saying spoilers may be present, so I imagine there's no "rule" either way... Quote Link to comment
Gitchee-Gummee
Upload any photos that you would like to. You should however, not show a geocache in position relative to its hide. You should also take into account unique camouflage technique and style -- if such is the case -- and not post such. Otherwise, show the cache container itself (especially with family or cachers present), the contents or the area (near) where it resides at will. Quote Link to comment
Chief301
As a CO I love getting pics from finders of my caches. Just consider if the picture will be a spoiler for the cache. For example, no big deal if you take a picture of an ammo can or a lock-n-lock, because one looks pretty much like all the rest. But if the container is cleverly disguised to look like something else, like a log or a birdhouse or something, the photo might be a spoiler. Likewise if you take a picture of the cache in its hiding spot, that may also be a giveaway. Just use a little common sense and you should be OK. Quote Link to comment
suchanana
usually taking a pix "view from the cache" is my way of showing what was special, of interest,or unique to the area, without giving away the actual location of the hide...most caches are a fun adventure i want to remember with a photo... Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance. Nothing "official", but it's courtesy not to show the exact location of a cache. And if the camo is different, don't show the cache container itself. Yes, there's a warning about "spoilers", but people tend to not read much. The cache owner can delete any photos (or logs) if he/she feels it gives too much away. I love seeing photos on cache logs. Not many people do it any more, it seems. B. Quote Link to comment
