Well, it's not completely original, but I always liked this type of cache. Quote Link to comment
4wheelin_fool
Find an electric antenna motor (and antenna) and put it inside. Place 2 terminals on the outside and tell seekers to they need jumper cables and to drive up to it. Make some modifications and place a smiley face thingy on top of the antenna with a bison tube in its mouth. Found something similar with a ton of favorites.. Quote Link to comment
+6NoisyHikers
With some extra parts, you could create a really big Cryptex Cache Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
You could make a giant monkey puzzle? Generally, these have a key that bounces around inside as you manipulate it. Eventually, the key falls out, and you unlock the end with the log. You could, instead, put one of those four digit brass combo lock on it, and have four ping pong balls inside, with "A, B, C, D" written on one side, and the combo written on the other side. Maybe? +MartyBartfast
Screw a bolt into the side of one of the tubes, so that it protrudes into the inner part of the tube about 1/4 inch. take a 5 foot piece of dowel, or broom handle which just fits inside the tube, with a cache container bolted on to the end of the dowel. Cut a groove into the dowel such that when it's inserted into the tube the bold engages with the groove, cut the groove in such a way that as you insert/remove the dowel it needs to be twisted, pulled out & pushed back in several times. You could also cut some 'dead ends' so that if the finder makes the wrong turn they're eventually unable to go any further without going back a way. You could also provide 'clues' along the way by having some strategically drilled holes in the tube which they could look through to see the dowel, and then on the dowel at certain places have something (numbers/letters/pictures) and they know that to make progress the numbers must keep going up, or the letters should spell out a word, or they must stick to pictures of insects and no birds. That is an interesting concept. I think I will have to work on this but on a smaller scale Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
Do not use just the tubes. They look a lot like pipe bombs. Make them into something , like the cryptex that was shown. Quote Link to comment
+Mudfrog
Can't believe noboddy has mentioned this. Get caps to cover both ends. Drill a hole in one cap and insert a little piece of string or rope so that it sticks out a few inches. Glue this cap on one end of the pipe and snug fit the other to the opposite end so it can be opened. Paint the tube and caps dark red then use a stencil to label the container. Something like T-N-T might look good on it. On second thought,, Quote Link to comment
+M 5
Be careful not to make it look like all the other 6 FOOT pipe bombs out there. Jeez. I'm actually using one on a future hide with a buddy of mine. I will glue a cap on one end, and put an expansion plug on the other side with a tool cabled to the container for finders to use. We are putting 6 handmade hiking sticks for the 1st 6 finders, and yes I have a plan to make sure that they go to 6 different people. Quote Link to comment
+badger10
Saw a pvc tube attached horizontally to a chain link fence. One end cap attached permanately and the other comes off. The cache is on the fixed end of the pipe and has a magnet in it. The end cap also has a magnet in it to bring the cache to the open end. Saw this on one of the geocaching videos. +J Grouchy
I'm considering a hide that is a small or micro cache with a strong magnet attached to it, dropped down a pipe or hollow wood box that is too narrow and long for anyone to reach down into. All they have to do is have an iron or steel object on hand that they hold up to this to help them lift it up enough to where they can reach in and grab it. Problem I see is avoiding creating a hole in the ground and also avoiding defacing or damaging property. Maybe slice the tube in half and mount that semi-circular portion to a fence post or pole with permission? Perhaps even just with something non-permanent like zip ties or something. It's an idea in its infancy...but it would be cool if I could implement it somewhere interesting. Edited August 26, 2013 by J Grouchy Quote Link to comment

Seen something similar to this too, although the pipe was vertical and disguised as a bit of electrical trunking. Quote Link to comment
