2-Hawkeyes
With all of the clever containers around....which is the largest you guys have found??... Quote Link to comment
+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
We seem to get mostly micros, but there was one cache we did that was a 5 gallon bucket. I doubt that's the largest cache, but after the tiny micros barely larger than a finger joint... +smithdw
I have one that's about 2.5' long, 2' wide and a foot high that I hid. I'm sure it's not the largest cache container, but it's about the biggest one in the area that I know of. I had to put out a bigger container, since people were wanting to place keyboards in it. +dasein
The Contact Cache is the largest that we have found. We don't know the dimensions, but it's a frickin' huge custom square container. When we visited it, among the many contents were a bowling pin, a regulation basketball, and one of those very large/tall plastic alien-shaped drinking containers that you can buy at amusement parks. Maybe if the cache owner, fractal, sees this, he will be willing to provide the dimensions. --laurak of dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers! Quote Link to comment
+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
Ain't No Crime in Being Different How could I forget? Officially called a large rocket ammo box, it's dimensions are about 1 and a half by 2 by 3 feet. There is a picture, sort of, by the most recent cache finder. Dinoprophet
Observation Deck is one of the oldest caches in Michigan. It's a foot-locker-sized plastic storage container. It's pretty much out in the open, but it's on publicly-accessible private property. "Winter's just the curtain. Spring will take the bow" -- Richard Shindell, Spring Quote Link to comment
+reepicheep
Not sure if it is the biggest, but we have The Biggest Cache In The World . It is in Athens Georgia, along with The Smallest Cache In The World . I have not done these but may be doing them this weekend. Kenneth Quote Link to comment
+sept1c_tank
The largest cache I have come across weighs probably 10 tons...it's a whole fallen tree with a man-made cavity for the cache. Very cleverly done. "X-ray vission needed" Quote Link to comment
SyrDragon
We found our largest cache yesterday at The Big X Marks the SpotI think it is the same type of rocket ammo can Dessert Viking mentioned (more like a trunk). Not as big as the tupperware bin kennethpruett mentioned but it was still about 10X bigger than a .50 cal ammo can. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
You guys obviously never found a Planet of the Apes Cache. Here's a photo of a cacher next to one. And another with me when I had to temporarily retrieve the one I placed. 120MM Mortar Can: Measures 32" tall x 12" wide x 6 1/4" deep (I need to update my POTA page). That was one HEAVY can to take into the woods. Mission 12: Blind Canal Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment
+PhilippeGPS
Can't show a picture, but the container at Take and HIDE a cache is a large plastic container, about 3' x 2' x 2', the biggest I ever saw. Quote Link to comment
