+Gardengrass Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I'm posting this as a plea to those who place caches, as a result of some caches recently visited. Firstly I would say that I prefer caches that are hidden in the countryside because any accumulated dirt tends to be 'good wholesome' dirt. However, there are some great caches in towns and built up areas too so we recently went to visit a few town caches only to find that one was hidden at the bottom of some railings adjacent to a dual carriageway behind some houses which was obviously frequented by the local dog walkers, need I say more? 💩 A second cache was in the corner of a town park in amongst some discarded lager cans 🍻 And the third in some brushes behind a local tudor house in an area full of discarded syringes. 💉 Needless to say we bid a very hasty retreat. We've logged a warning about particular cache on the log, I just hope people read it first. I love Geocaching and I can see that an ideal hiding place for a cache is in a dark over grown corner, but please consider whether your hiding place is frequented by those with less wholesome pursuits! +Just Roger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) I fully agree with you though it is mainly a problem with urban caches there are similar black spots in the rurals which seem to act as magnets for some cache owners. Personally, in the case of the discarded syringes, I'd have no hesitation in putting a 'Needs Archiving' log on it. Edited August 5, 2013 by Just Roger Quote
