Waypoint database

Hi,

 

I'm Francesc (from Catalonia-Spain). I would like to have a database of my waypoints of interest in a way that they are available from any place with internet connexion (laptop, smartphone, etc.). For the moment I have tried to do this using Google Earth, but I think these waypoints are stored locally and not on the cloud (I'm not able to access them from Google Earth in my smartphone).

 

What would you recommend me ?

I use Dropbox to keep all my GPX files available from either of my computers, and as a way to back them up.

The newest versions of Basecamp allow you to store data in the cloud

 

(if you have a Garmin)

Thanks. I'm not very familiar with GPX format (I just know KML). Is GPX only valid for Garmin GPS or is it valid for any GPS and smartphone? Moreover, ¿could I easily organize my favorite waypoints in GPX files and thus keep them in a Dropbox folder and easily access them from a computer / smartphone or even with a GPS with WiFi connection?

GPX is a common format used on almost all GPS receivers. You can use Dropbox for KML files too. AFAIK you can't currently access them using a GPS with WiFi.
