+Terrible Ts
"Cache Across America is a series of caches that will take you on a caching tour of the entire United States. One cache is hidden in each of the 50 states. These caches each contain a numeric clue that that will lead you to one final cache located in our nation's capital upon completion of the series." One cacher to complete the series (lorriebird) posted a You Tube video. She appears to be having a great deal of fun, and I wish I had found out about this a while ago, since I have visited all but 5 states. I guess I will have to do them all again. (Lorriebird is an airline pilot.) So I thought it would be super-cool do exactly the same thing, on a smaller scale and call it Cache Across Washington: a series of caches that would take us on a caching tour of the entire state. One cache hidden in each of the 39 counties. Each cache containing a numeric clue that will lead us to one final cache located in our state's capital upon completion of the series. This would be a little different from the challenge cache, Washington State County Challenge, because you have to find a specific cache in each county rather than any cache in each county. What do you think? Has someone already tried this? Do you think we can find 40 geocachers willing to work together on such a project? We need one geocacher in each county to maintain a cache with a clue in it. We also need one geocacher in Olympia to maintain the final cache. I think all the caches should be in some interesting part of each county: someplace worth visiting even if there weren't a cache there. I think existing caches should be eligible as long as the owner is willing to add a clue and change the name of the cache. I think we should also create a similar description for each cache (like the Cache Across America series) maybe with a nice graphic if anyone knows how to make one. Please comment below if you have any thoughts about this project. Indicate if you would like to maintain one of the caches in this series. I will update this list as we collect volunteers: 1 Cache Across Washington - Adams County 2 Cache Across Washington - Asotin County 3 Cache Across Washington - Benton County -- badger10 4 Cache Across Washington - Chelan County 5 Cache Across Washington - Clallam County 6 Cache Across Washington - Clark County 7 Cache Across Washington - Columbia County 8 Cache Across Washington - Cowlitz County 9 Cache Across Washington - Douglas County 10 Cache Across Washington - Ferry County 11 Cache Across Washington - Franklin County -- badger10 (if needed) 12 Cache Across Washington - Garfield County 13 Cache Across Washington - Grant County 14 Cache Across Washington - Grays Harbor County -- fluteface 15 Cache Across Washington - Island County 16 Cache Across Washington - Jefferson County 17 Cache Across Washington - King County 18 Cache Across Washington - Kitsap County 19 Cache Across Washington - Kittitas County 20 Cache Across Washington - Klickitat County 21 Cache Across Washington - Lewis County 22 Cache Across Washington - Lincoln County 23 Cache Across Washington - Mason County 24 Cache Across Washington - Okanogan County 25 Cache Across Washington - Pacific County -- fluteface (if needed) 26 Cache Across Washington - Pend Oreille County 27 Cache Across Washington - Pierce County -- terpnurse or valleyAGs47 28 Cache Across Washington - San Juan County -- las3dogs 29 Cache Across Washington - Skagit County 30 Cache Across Washington - Skamania County 31 Cache Across Washington - Snohomish County -- CorvetteKent 32 Cache Across Washington - Spokane County 33 Cache Across Washington - Stevens County 34 Cache Across Washington - Thurston County 35 Cache Across Washington - Wahkiakum County -- mc3cats 36 Cache Across Washington - Walla Walla County 37 Cache Across Washington - Whatcom County 38 Cache Across Washington - Whitman County 39 Cache Across Washington - Yakima County 40 Cache Across Washington Final - Olympia -- Terrible Ts Volunteers: sprouter terpnurse Mark Hill (Eastern WA) Most of the above text blatantly copied (with permission) from howarthe (Cache Across Oregon) Terrible Ts Edited July 30, 2013 by Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
+badger10
I do not know how many would complete this challenge due to the specific cache scenario but I would be willing to put one in Benton County. I could also put one in Franklin County if no one else volunteers. Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
I have updated the original post with volunteers from here and facebook. If there is a county you would like to place a cache in, please let me know. Thanks to the people that have volunteered so far. Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
I have the templates built for each county, so the cache hider would only have to add specific information about their area/hide and then cut and paste it into the online forms. I have a graphic for the top of each page that my wife put together. I will be making that available for people to see and comment on soon. Anybody else interested in hiding a cache as part of this series. We have a lot of counties open still. Thanks Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
jholly
My fee for hiding a cache in Kitsap county is fairly cheap. If your interested we can see if we can work out a deal. Now you weren't expecting an ammo can, were you? I do have some rather nice gladware. Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
It doesn't have to be an ammo can, but an interesting area/placement would be appreciated. Latest updated list. Since you can't edit a post after 24 hours, I will hav to copy the list into a new post or set up a web page for people to look at. 1 Cache Across Washington - Adams County 2 Cache Across Washington - Asotin County 3 Cache Across Washington - Benton County -- badger10 4 Cache Across Washington - Chelan County 5 Cache Across Washington - Clallam County 6 Cache Across Washington - Clark County 7 Cache Across Washington - Columbia County 8 Cache Across Washington - Cowlitz County 9 Cache Across Washington - Douglas County 10 Cache Across Washington - Ferry County 11 Cache Across Washington - Franklin County -- badger10 (if needed) 12 Cache Across Washington - Garfield County 13 Cache Across Washington - Grant County 14 Cache Across Washington - Grays Harbor County -- fluteface 15 Cache Across Washington - Island County 16 Cache Across Washington - Jefferson County 17 Cache Across Washington - King County 18 Cache Across Washington - Kitsap County -- jholly 19 Cache Across Washington - Kittitas County 20 Cache Across Washington - Klickitat County 21 Cache Across Washington - Lewis County 22 Cache Across Washington - Lincoln County 23 Cache Across Washington - Mason County 24 Cache Across Washington - Okanogan County 25 Cache Across Washington - Pacific County -- fluteface (if needed) 26 Cache Across Washington - Pend Oreille County 27 Cache Across Washington - Pierce County -- terpnurse or valleyAGs47 28 Cache Across Washington - San Juan County -- las3dogs 29 Cache Across Washington - Skagit County 30 Cache Across Washington - Skamania County 31 Cache Across Washington - Snohomish County -- CorvetteKent 32 Cache Across Washington - Spokane County 33 Cache Across Washington - Stevens County 34 Cache Across Washington - Thurston County 35 Cache Across Washington - Wahkiakum County -- mc3cats 36 Cache Across Washington - Walla Walla County 37 Cache Across Washington - Whatcom County 38 Cache Across Washington - Whitman County 39 Cache Across Washington - Yakima County 40 Cache Across Washington Final - Olympia -- Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
I have the template for King County online here. I have all the counties built and ready to be populated. The link to the bookmark of other caches in the series just points to a bookmark I created and only have the "Cache Across America - Washington" listed. This bookmark will be populated with all the caches in the series. Same with the link to the final of the series. Let me know what you think. Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment

Did you run the wording past a reviewer? Maybe some thing along the lines of optionally post a picture of yourself or the group might be better. Other than that looks great. Okay, I guess the walmart LPC is out. Guess I'll have to think of a real place for the cache. Edited August 2, 2013 by jholly Quote Link to comment
+lamoracke
I have no problem with this series existing, it sounds cool...maybe make a series out of it and a bonus cache that you can only get the #s if you find the prior ones. However, its not a challenge cache. The PEACE puzzle is a series with a bonus. NUTS is a series with a bonus. This would be a series and thus no challenge cache can come from it. Does not change the folks who want to do it or how cool it would be, but the reason we never got a 100 or 103 state park challenge was it was too much asking for specific caches only. I bet I could find room in Island County if you want an Island County volunteer. Maybe even could ask to see if the ranger would allow a 2nd one in South Whidbey State Park. Heaven knows there are miles and miles of trails there. Edited August 2, 2013 by lamoracke Quote Link to comment

There will be a three digit code in each of the caches that you will need to solve the puzzle of the final cache (in Olympia). lamoracke: Thanks for the help, I will add you to the list for Island County. South Whidbey State Park would be cool if you could swing it. Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
After chatting with the current maintainer of the Cache Across America series, I have decided to rename my series to "Discover Washington Counties". I have updated all the templates and you can see it here I am still have a lot of unclaimed counties, so if there is one you are interested in claiming, please contact me, or post something in this forum. Thanks Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment
