sed explorers
Hi, looking for some advice. Am fairly new to geocaching but love it! HAve been using the app on my Blackberry. But now we're about to move to Barbados and I want to continue geocaching across the region. Any suggestions about what GPS I should get? Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
Buy the best Garmin you can afford. You will never regret it. Quote Link to comment

sed explorers
thanks for your suggestions. What about the Magellan? not as good? Viajero, your map project looks great! Will send you a postcard when I get there. Edited July 28, 2013 by sed explorers Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
People will give opinions about which is best but try this test. When you are with other cachers count the number of Garmins and Magellans. I am guessing 95% plus are Garmin. You have the same chance of spotting Sasquatch as a Magellan cacher. +Viajero Perdido
Thanks, but those aren't my maps. Just some great maps that I found on the web, and used in the Dominican Republic. They were a great help there. There's a huge ecosystem of maps for Garmin units. The other brands, nowhere near as much. Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Check out gpscity.com, Oregon 450, nice stable gps with a perfect readable screen especially in the Bbd sun. Quote Link to comment
+phlatlander
Screen shot examples of the Barbados map from Openstreetmaps as displayed on an Oregon 550. Last fall using our O550, we found a restaurant at night, overcast, in Oldtown Prague using maps from Openstreetmaps. Edited July 28, 2013 by phlatlander Quote Link to comment
+M Crane
My Garmin 60Csx Worked Great In The Usvi. it's not the fanciest GPS out there but it is one of the most accurate. Quote Link to comment
