Passing of a pioneer

Recommended Posts

I just found out that one of the pioneers in Geocaching (since 2002) and a "giant" in Waymarking passed away on 18 May 2013. I had corresponded with him last in early May, but I had no idea that he had passed on until I found out through Facebook.

Charles Britton (GEO*Trailblazer 1) is survived by his wife and several children. And a lot of interesting Waymarks; over 1200.

I only got to meet Charles one time in person, but he was a wealth of information in Waymarking and in local information on this neck of the Ozarks.

Charles and I had lunch several times, when I was in that part of Missouri....we became friends through the Waymarking category of Missouri Historical Markers.

We both we tracking all the stage coach stations of the Butterfield Stage Line through MO and AR (1858-1861)

We found and hunted in some deep woods, and found foundations, and other clues...

I will miss him, am saddened with his passing.

YoSam.
