Long forgotten TB's showing up

Dang, I'll bet I haven't even opened up this sub-forum in 2 years. Are most of the posts still by BlueDuece?

 

Maybe I should have looked for a thread to bump. Here's my story. I found a series of caches a few hundred miles from my house in a different State, and the owner of that series put out a Travel Bug named after his series. I suppose you could say this was to advertise his series? So anywho, this TB showed up in one of *MY* caches a few hundred miles from his series in 2004. I thought this was pretty interesting, so I put it on my watchlist. I didn't personally grab it, I was just interested. So long story short, some guy (who I actually met once in 2004) grabbed this TB, and held on to it for 8 years and 9 months, before dropping it in May 2013.

 

Has anyone around here posted a longer hold? I guess I mean for one that was properly logged the whole time, and just held on to.

TB18MXD QGirl's 100th Golf ball - retrieved from cache Aug '07, held by cacher, not dropped off again until Oct '12.

TB2A2QY NZ train - Not seen from from Sept '10 until it reappeared March '13.

TB2AF46 Colonel Mustard Skydiver TB. Put into its first cache Dec '08 and disappeared. Found in another cache April '13.

TB2HXJH JA-Neuseeland-TB Placed into first cache Dec '09, then cache was muggled. Re-appeared March '13 about 3000 miles away.

TBGBKK Mick the policeman. Retrieved by freemanteam August'05, finally dropped off by same cacher on April '12

TBC180 M&M Boarder. Placed into a Cornish cache Nov '04, then not seen for 8.5 years until it was found in a different Cornish cache in June '13.

I could do this Mrs. B! It's not like the 8 year 9 month holder, whom I haven't talked to since probably a 2005 email exchange, is ever going to see this.

I actually probably have another one for you. I once met a very casual 2001 joiner on the trail, in an area with about 5 hiking caches, spread out over about a 2 mile area. He was coming back from a certain cache, I was going to it. In it, I found a TB that disappeared from a cache about 4 or 5 years earler. A little "research" and it was totally obvious he took it from the previous cache about the time it went missing, and never logged it, and dropped it in the cache 10 minutes before I got there. I will have to look this one up though.

These stories go to show that a TB is never for sure out of the game. Maybe some of mine have a chance yet.

This one: TBP4YA Volunteer Geocoin: Haggaeus is on my watch list. Picked up in August 2009; put into a cache in June 2013. I was surprised to get an e-mail on it!

Never mind, Mrs. B. My "second story" about meeting a guy on the trail who dropped an unlogged TB happened way back in '06, and he actually only held the missing TB for a couple days short of two years. Seem much longer to me at the time. Well, Geocaching was only 6 years old then, so he had it for 1/3 of it's existence.

I picked up a TB in April that had been previously picked up in September 2006 in a cache in Mexico; dropped 4-26-13 in a cache in Ada, Michigan. Almost 6 years later.... TBGKYJ Purdy's Green Wreath

TB1XCTE cacher tag geocoin - Placed into a rather remote cache in Greece in Nov '08. Retrieved from that same cache June '12.

After it reappeared in Greece, in the same cache it was reported missing from four years earlier (go figure), the coin came to Norway. I placed it in a cache on a summit-of-sorts in late July '12, but after two more hops it's been out of circulation since September '12. It's in the hands of a cacher with 21 finds and no logins since January '13.

 

Some TBs lead a troubled life indeed
