Now that it's archived, could someone explain why it has been one of the most favorited caches in the world? It looks like it *used* to be multi-cache but the cache listing indicates one can go into a building and ask to be directed to the cache. Quote Link to comment

Suffice it to say, it was definitely one of the best caches i have ever found. The friend i was with when i found it called this morning to tell me the bad news. The CO is the building engineer of one of if not the tallest building in New Orleans. You were escorted to the cache by the CO or one of his staff because it was in a mechanical room just off the room. After going through a large toolbox that had a separate shelf for trackables, you were then taken to the roof for an amazing view of the city. On one of my visits we looked down on a new helicopter. You don't see that everyday from GZ. That's the reason for 800+ favorite points; plus the people there are really nice. Thanks Bam for a very special caching experience. Here are a couple that i liked. Even though it was an urban cache, it was of a large size. The container was a chest with more swag, signature items, and travelbugs than you could shake a stick at. It was inside and i have no doubt that it stayed in pristine condition over the years. Second, the cache was different. Even with the "multi" portion taken away, a visitor was still taken on a tour to make the grab. We went into areas of the building that most people never were able to. The whole experience was great but going to the top and viewing New Orleans from up there was the icing on the cake for me. Quote Link to comment

I haven't been there, so I'm only going off your description of it, but it sounds like it could possibly run afoul of guideline II-1.-4.-2.: Cache listings perceived as commercial will not be published. A commercial cache listing has one or more of the following characteristics:... It suggests or requires that the finder go inside a business, interact with employees and/or purchase a product or service. That clause wasn't in the guidelines when that cache was placed, but it is now, and a replacement would have to comply with current guidelines. It isn't really clear whether it would violate that guideline or not, so it might depend on what kind of mood the reviewer is in on the day the replacement gets submitted, if it does. I was going to be in NW Louisiana (first time ever in the state) later this year and I was tempted to make the trip, even if not realistic. I think the reason stated for archival is that the CO, Bamboozle, is retiring from his position as the building engineer. Really a shame, this is an awesome cache....I found it a couple of years ago and I always wanted to return for another visit. I don't think this cache really violates the commercial guidelines....the building is home to many business offices, but you really are only interacting with the building receptionist and some of the maintenance staff, not any of the individual businesses. I stumbled on it without knowing what to expect and it was a totally unique experience. Semantics, I guess. It probably wouldn't get published today though. A reviewer might not publish it, but I'm sure that it would be published with special permission from Groundspeak. Going in a building and interacting with employees usually has commercial overtones, but not all of the time. Quote Link to comment
