TWCheek
I found this disk at Acton Lake in Hueston Woods State Park, Oxford, OH, 45056. I searched NGS database and geocaching.com database, still no info on it. Does anyone have official info on this? Coords are: N 39* 55.7032,W 084* 73.8135 Picture provided on request. Help us a little, what is on the disk, both cast into and stamped. What agency? If U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY then 90% of those marks are not in the database. TWCheek
Here's what it says on the disk: OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES GEODETIC CONTROL POINT ACTON 02 DO NOT DISTURB ENGINEERING Edited June 20, 2013 by TWCheek Quote Link to comment
+m&h
Hi-- "Coords are: N 39* 55.7032,W 084* 73.8135." These don't work on our finding aids, because the longitude has a minutes value that exceeds 60. Some sort of typo, we imagine. We'll check back in case of a correction. Best, m&h Quote Link to comment
TWCheek
Whoops, sorry. I meant: N 39°33'25.32" , W 84°44'17.28" Coords are in minutes & seconds. Quote Link to comment
Bill93
Coordinates can be expressed by three common methods. I expect the original readings were in decimal minutes, and the other values converted with a pocket calculator, with the first posting incorrectly formatted: N39.557032 degrees W084.738135 degrees N39d 33.422' W084d 44.288' as usually used with geocaches N39d 33 25.32 W084d 44' 17.28" as found on NGS data sheets Edited June 22, 2013 by Bill93 Quote Link to comment

+m&h
"I can't find any informaton on the http://ohiodnr.com/tabid/9692/Default.aspx web site." Neither can we. There's one page where you can search for north coastal area marks, but Butler County is too far south for it. Cheers, m&h Quote Link to comment
