+jennthefunkyranger
I'm trying to open a Wherigo cartridge in the emulator as I have no other way of playing, but I'm also getting nowhere with this With the Wherigo builder I'm getting an error message, and with the Urwigo builder I'm getting nowhere either. I've tried the fix posted for the official builder, which also isn't working. Can someone help me figure it out, as there are a few Wherigos in about a 50 mile radius, and I'd like to have a go at them. Quote Link to comment
Ranger Fox
If you've downloaded a GWC file, you're on the right track to attempting to play it in the emulator. However, the builders need a GWZ file (you change GWZ to ZIP and unzip it) to operate. Some cartridges have something in them to prevent being played in the emulator. Depending on what was done to the cartridge, if it has an emulator check, it'll either close the cartridge, close the emulator, or refuse to show the next zone. This is usually accompanied by a short message. You may have run across this. If you'll be more specific about your situation when you say you're "getting nowhere with this" and the fix "isn't working", you might get better help. Please try being as specific as you can about your problem, such as what you're doing, seeing, and working with, and include a link to the cartridge in your post. And how do you know the fix "isn't working"? What are you seeing? Yes, yes, when anyone contacts IT support, the support person on the other end is very annoying because he or she wants you to be very specific and use certain terms. This is because, when computers are involved, a lot can go wrong and IT support has come across all sorts of creative things users try to do. Please bear with the questions. Quote Link to comment
+jennthefunkyranger
So do I need to open the cartridge first? I have downloaded several, and I get an error message. If I change the file ending would that make it open? When I try opening the emulator I get the following error message: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.BadImageFormatException: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Ranger Fox
It doesn't look like you applied the Google Maps fix to the emulator. Failing that, you might be trying to use the emulator from withing Urwigo (and I don't know where that version of the emulator lives). Quote Link to comment
