Guest jeremy
Better get your jets ready. Mission 4 "Southern Bowl" is in South America, apparently. http://www.projectape.com/current.html Jeremy Quote Link to comment
Guest Artful Dodger
That's interesting... probably stashed away in an ancient Aztec temple or hidden under a stone atop of Macchu Picchu. Hands up all those Geocachers in South America? Quote Link to comment
Guest makaio
Hmmm....6 total caches in South America (Brazil-5, Bolivia-1). Only one of these has been logged as found (Bolivia - hidden 1/01 found 3/01). All of Brazil's caches hidden 4/01 but only one (failed) log online. Seems not much activity down there so this one may sit untouched for some time. Hopefully they stashed it close enough to those active (?) geocachers to prevent the APE's from reaching it first. With a name like Southern Bowl, maybe it's within one of the many impact craters? http://gdcinfo.agg.emr.ca/toc.html?/crater/south_america_craters.html [This message has been edited by makaio (edited 12 June 2001).] Quote Link to comment
Guest CaptHawke
It has to be HERE (There is even a map at the web site!) Pack up your Garmin and your Titanium Messenger and head for Brazil. Quote Link to comment
Guest makaio
Go figure...another Brazillian cache posted just today... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3125 Being the first since April, maybe this person is more in tune with Project APE and will be the one to find the cache. Judging by the pic on his website, he'll be ready for those club wielding APEs (or Dave). Good Luck, Rodrego, and let us know what you find! Guest Hyper-X
I did a quick google search for south america and southern bowl, and came up with a site about Bolivia. Highest capital in the world, highest navigatable lake in the world(lake titicaca)witch has two islands in it islas del sol and islas de la luna that are of great importance in Incan creation myth. Just a little info hope i am right. Hyper-X Quote Link to comment
Guest Hyper-X
never mind A new clue is up and it says somewhere in Brazil Hyper-X Quote Link to comment
Guest Artful Dodger
I wonder how long it will be until someone actually finds it. My bet is 3 to 7 days. Quote Link to comment
Guest makaio
Suppose it depends upon how remote a location it is. They probably didn't stash it too far from a major populus, especially since the number of known geocachers in the area is minimal. My bet is it's in the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. I agree that it probably won't be rushed to as those in the U.S. have been. Then again, if it's got an A.P.E. soccer ball signed by members of the Brazillian World Cup team... Quote Link to comment

Guest makaio
Interesting...the 2nd clue which mentioned it was in Brazil no longer exists. Did the APEs get to it first or maybe A.P.E. rethought their choice of location. Quote Link to comment

Guest Artful Dodger
I wonder what the hell happened to the cache's existence? ... a job for Scully and Mulder....! Quote Link to comment
Guest bob_renner
They have been "archiving" the post immediately upon entering the data and then "un-archive" it when they put in the correct coordinates and "release" it to the public. Bob Quote Link to comment

Guest Artful Dodger
No one has located Mission 4's artifact yet, huh? Too bad! Quote Link to comment
Guest jeremy
FOUND! Here's a (rough) translation of the log... We were the first ones to find the cache! After hours looking for in the bush found it. We arrived at the end of the afternoon, and we had to give up when it got dark. We come back to the place in the early morning and after hours looking for it, found a bowl that was used in the Planet of the Apes movie (we left the other items there. Good luck to the next adventurers!) PS ? Amazing place! (ed: not sure of the slang) Valley to the penalty! Quote Link to comment
