I will post something positive in this forum and point out that this years GW was a total success. The shuttle service was fast and very convenient. The lunch line was quick and the food was very tasty. The location for the event was absolutely amazing. For those who just showed up to sign the log and leave, you really missed out on a great all day event and caches around the reserve. We wound up doing very few caches and took in the scenery, the wildlife shows, the tram tour of the reserve, etc. The day was over too soon and organizers and volunteers of this years event should really be proud of themselves. It will be a tough act to follow for the Mizzou cachers next year (but since they do MOGA, I am sure they know what they are doing). I am still glowing from such a great event.

Also, a footnote, the meet and greet was done very well too. Another great park for them to have the registration pick up. The whole experience was a good one!

Yep,, i have to agree that this one was GOOOOOOOD! To be honest, because I love smaller, more personal get togethers, i have never really wanted to attend a Geowoodstock. I was kinda talked into it this year and can now say that i'm glad i went. We ended up arriving around 0930 hours and didn't leave until after 1700 hours. Met quite a few cachers that i hadn't before, talked a minute or two with Miss Jenn, listened to the reviewers answer cacher's questions, won a door prize, and even had my picture taken with Signal. :D

The only thing that i was dissappointed in was my GWXI shirt. Note to self, don't ever try tie dying a green shirt when you don't know what you're doing.:P

Complete agreement, it went splendidly.

Congrats to the hard working organizers, and the many many volunteers.

The weather even cooperated, breezy all day, which coupled with shade from those great old oaks, made for a very comfortable day.

We did zero caching, were there from 7 am to sometime after 5pm, just meetin' & greetin'. Saw a whole lot of old friends, made some new friends. What could be finer?

Good luck to the MOGA efforts! They've sure started out with a great theme for GWXII

Sounds awesome and very well organized. I would like to go to one of these one day. :D

Well at least you're close enough to Seattle that a trip in August for the blockparty isn't prohibitively expensive and you'd get the blockparty souveneir, a Groundspeak HQ souvenir and icon, Plus you can get the "special surprise for everyone attending the event this year" and it even sounds like there's a special event for the Ape tribute cache (and possibly a souvenir for that.) If I want to get all those benefits it would cost me.

R/T airfare from ITH to SEA ~$600 if it's just me, $1800 for my family (I can just imagine what someone from Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, or Australia would have to pay).

3 nights accommodations in Seattle: $180 min...probably closer to $200, $540-$600 total.

Food and other daily expenses for thee days $180-$220 for just me, double it for the family.

So, If I came to the blockparty so that I could get all those lovely parting gifts I figure it would cost me $1500 minium and could approach $3000 for the whole family.

Thanks for the invitation GS, but I think I'm going to pass. Actually, in all likelihood I may be 8400 miles away from Seattle that week.

How you are saying something positive when you have to say something not so postive of people that just sign the log and leave? You have no business passing judgement on them. If that is their idea of fun, let it be. Some people are short on time and want to find caches that was in their list to do.

We did go to the block party in Seattle 1 year. It was great! Lots of fun, but yeah, a drain on the pocket book. We'll go again some year.

He asked a legitimate question. You basically passed judgement on those who decided to sign the log and not hang out.

NT simply stated that those who signed and took off missed out on alot of fun. Didn't sound like judgement was being passed on anyone.

Oh well, so much for the positive forum thread.. :(

Don't bother with either one of them - they are always looking to start some crap on here.

I believe the poster was just saying that they missed a good time.

Kind of like leaving a concert early and missing the 'encore'.

Or the leaving the fireworks early and missing the 'Grand Finale'
