+Jamie Z Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 I believe that I may have found one of the loneliest caches around. That is, this cache does not have a cache anywhere near it... 67.2 miles in this case. Is this the loneliest cache? Jamie Quote
+Jamie Z Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 I guess what I should have said is that I didn't find it. Jamie Quote
+Alan2 Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 This one on Easter Island is probably one to two thousand miles from the next nearest and it hasn't been visited yet. ALan Quote
Attila Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 I thought this one in the Grand Canyon was quite remote. There are other caches nearby, but only 2-dimentionally. Placed 12/1/00 and not found yet. "I've never been lost. However, I did misplace the camp for a few days." - Daniel Boone Quote
+Mr. Snazz Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 Isn't the Grand Canyon a National Park, and thus off-limits to caching? Quote
+cachew nut Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 quote:Originally posted by Mr. Snazz: Isn't the Grand Canyon a National Park, and thus off-limits to caching? It would appear that caches in National Parks are allowed if they were placed before the new rules went into effect. There are a bunch of caches that are active in national parks. Quote
+YukonWolf Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 I was just told to remove a Virtual cache in the National Parks systems, Sitka national historical Park in Sitka Alaska. Seems they were afraid of people digging up their park looking for the virtual cache. The Geocaching rules are quite clear though. They asked for the virtual cache to be removed and it was off the web site within the hour. Quote
+YukonWolf Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 Although not as remote as some other areas, look for some caches along the Dempster highway in the Yukon territory of Canada this summer. These will be a hundred or so miles from the Acrtic circle. Some will be rated at a 4/4 so be prepared for a true wilderness experience. Quote
+walkietalkie Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I got a few lonely caches here with a thick blanket of snow on them hunkering down for the winter. One not found yet! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...02-a6746e33785e Quote
+wray_clan Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 Ruyso does not have a cache within 25.6 miles of it. There's probably something better, though. The cache which JamieZ first posted (almost two years ago) now has a cache within 13.7 miles of it. Quote
+wray_clan Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 I've been looking. There's a pretty good one inWestern Australia: sheep country, 33.9 miles from any other geocache. But.... Mad Dragons' Cache, located in China, is an astounding dun, dun, dun........76.3 miles from any other geocache. Incredible. Quote
+Stunod Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 I found it sorta funny that Jamie's link now shows a distance of only 13.7 miles. Nice improvement. Quote
+wray_clan Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 And then, of course, there's a lot of countries with just one cache: Ethiopia Zambia Burkina Faso Bhutan (cache never found) Chad (cache never found) ...just to name five. There's also a cache in India that's so far out, no caches are nearby. (much thanks to geckoee) Quote
+Wacka Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 I read in the forums previously that there is supposed to be one in Antarctica. Quote
+wray_clan Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 I read in the forums previously that there is supposed to be one in Antarctica. There's actually 11. However, since some of them are in groups, then the caches in Antartica are isolated, but not lonely. Quote
+Hard Oiler Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 As North as it Gets must rate as one of the loneliest caches. Click on nearest caches and you get nothing! Would really like to get there one of these days. Quote

I wouldn't have archived it, unless GC.COM made me. Quote
tordail Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 In my country, Romania there are very few caches, and they get pretty lonely. For ex. the one at Ilva http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...7&lon=25.122533 has it's closest at 68.1 miles. I plan to increase the number of the caches here. Quote
+brodiebunch Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I remember reading in guidelines for hiding caches, that you should hide a cache in a place you cannot service or remove if necessary. Seems like a lot of these remote are hidden by vacationers and not residents of a specific area. Just an observation........... Brodiebunch Quote
+Beta Test Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 I was just told to remove a Virtual cache Is that even possible?? I mean seriously how do you remove what is not there? Dig up the mountain? Yes i understanded the point but...oh well i guess I just wanted to post Quote
+nitrosheep Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 In my town, Sturgis, MI, there were no caches within 8.2 direct miles, and they were located in another town. So, I took this opportunity to plant the very first cache in my city. I'm working on more caches in my area so when the next person in Sturgis decides to stumble upon the Geocaching sport, at least they can start hunting close to home! Quote
+Fireman78 Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 There are many very lonely caches here in New Mexico..... email if interested in beta. Quote
+Bilder Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 (edited) Zeto Point That has to be the lonliest cache in the USA. Nearest cache does not even register. I would figure 500 miles or more. Edited June 29, 2004 by Bilder Quote
+Phone guy Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Zeto Point That has to be the lonliest cache in the USA. Nearest cache does not even register. I would figure 500 miles or more. $1274. R/T from Anchorage. $2100. and change from Redding,CA. I think I'll pass on this one for now. I would hate to go up there not find it and post a sad face. Quote
+Beta Test Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Isn't there a virtual at the north pole? I would think that is the loneliest. Quote
+Smitherington Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Another way to look at the 'lonliest' cache would be the one that has gone the longest without being found. I am sure there are lots of unfound caches. Quote

"Cache is burried in a hidden bunker " Who approved this thing!? Or does "burried" not mean the same thing as "buried"? Can't believe nobody's jumped on this FTF! Quote
