It would appear that caches in National Parks are allowed if they were placed before the new rules went into effect. There are a bunch of caches that are active in national parks. Seems they were afraid of people digging up their park looking for the virtual cache. The Geocaching rules are quite clear though. These will be a hundred or so miles from the Acrtic circle. Some will be rated at a 4/4 so be prepared for a true wilderness experience. Quote Link to comment

So, I took this opportunity to plant the very first cache in my city. I'm working on more caches in my area so when the next person in Sturgis decides to stumble upon the Geocaching sport, at least they can start hunting close to home! Quote Link to comment
