It would appear that caches in National Parks are allowed if they were placed before the new rules went into effect. There are a bunch of caches that are active in national parks.

I was just told to remove a Virtual cache in the National Parks systems, Sitka national historical Park in Sitka Alaska. Seems they were afraid of people digging up their park looking for the virtual cache. The Geocaching rules are quite clear though. They asked for the virtual cache to be removed and it was off the web site within the hour.

Since when did the NPS come down against the 1st Amendment? I wouldn't have archived it, unless GC.COM made me.

In my town, Sturgis, MI, there were no caches within 8.2 direct miles, and they were located in another town. So, I took this opportunity to plant the very first cache in my city. I'm working on more caches in my area so when the next person in Sturgis decides to stumble upon the Geocaching sport, at least they can start hunting close to home!
