smileys/delisted caches

Recommended Posts

Do you loose your smiley face on the map when when it is de listed?

You keep the credit for your find, but the cache won't display on the map anymore.

Just to clarify, when you say "delisted", it could actually mean one of two possible actions:

1. Archive - This is the permanent disabling of a cache by the owner or a reviewer on behalf of the owner. The cache listing remains visible to everyone, but it won't show up on the map.

2. Retracted - This is when a reviewer "unpublishes" a cache. Usually this is reserved for cases where a reviewer accidentally publishes a cache when it shouldn't have been. The cache listing is no longer visible to the general public and the cache won't show up on the map.

I found the remains of this cache and removed it as it was spread across a walking bridge, the cache owner seems not to be playing anymore. The cache was firstly archived and I had a smiley now everything is gone no smiley, no cache listing. Do archived caches go away after a period of time it they are not dealt with?

If you logged a find on it, it will still be in your stats. It will not show up on the map any longer. You can still look it up using either the GC number or by opening it from your list of caches found in your profile.

Caches can be disabled, which is supposed to be a temporary situation which gives the owner time to fix/replace the cache. A disabled cache will show on the map. "Archived" is a permanent situation meaning that the cache has been totally removed from play and the area it was in can now be used for a new cache. Once a cache is archived, it's icon is removed from the map. Think of the map as a representation of current caches. The listing for an archived cache still exists and it can be viewed for historical purposes. All of the logs attached to it, including your find log, still exist.

You won't see the smiley on your map but the cache will still be in your stats once its archived.

You will notice the archived ones appear in a dark red with a strike through and can still be viewed. Check your found caches list and you will see it there.
