+Amberel
Red Sands Fort 21st August 2008, DNF. Sunset at the Thames Barrier. Millennium Dome and Canary Wharf. I'm not sure if these photos are close enough to count - while it is the exact route we took home, they were taken on an earlier trip so I will understand if they are disallowed. I plan to return to this one at some point, when I can spare the time, but though the cache owner permits a find just by going near to the fort and taking a photo, my view is that devalues the cache and it would not be acceptable to me. If we do go back it will be with climbing gear to try to put a rope up to the cache from the boat and get up there to sign the log . Rgds, Andy Quote Link to comment

Aberlady Bay is well-known for its impressive sunsets and this day proved no exception. Hopefully the links work as I've not tried this before. An annoying inconsistency between the forum and the main site. I usually save as PNG - that works in both places. Edit: no, wait, your JPGs work just fine. Here they are: (Replace "small" with "log" in my URLs to revert to the original size) Perhaps you mistakenly tried to post an image link to your log entry instead? Edited May 9, 2013 by I! +Original A1
Thanks Mrs B. That's what I tried last night. I've just done the same thing to edit as you recommend, but as with last night, it told me I wasn't allowed to post that extension on the board. I'm obviously signed in, otherwise I wouldn't be able to type this, so I don't know what else I can do to make it speak to my computer/me. It really shouldn't be this complicated, but that's why I've not entered this competition before. Quote Link to comment

+Us 4 and Jess
Edit: well it says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board". Any idea why not?!! That's exactly what happened to me I spent over an hour trying to upload the 2 photos I posted in September (I had to disqualify myself that time as there was no water in the pictures ) M Quote Link to comment
I!
You should navigate to where your image is the only thing on the page. The address (URL) will be something like http://img.geocaching.com/...blah...jpg -- copy that URL. Then, to put the URL into a forum post, you type something like this: ---------------------------------------------------Here's my photo of a dead badger:--------------------------------------------------- If the forum says, "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board", then it's because it doesn't like the image type (the .jpg bit in this example). IIRC, it's happy with .jpg and .png but not .bmp. If I've got the wrong image type then I tend to load the image into Microsoft Paint and then "Save As ..." a different format. Quote Link to comment

I!
It's been a frustrating month for good sunsets I know we have the option of recycling old photos this month, but surely half the point of geocaching-related activities, photo comp included, is to get us out and about. I!
Hmm, a nearly three year old photo. Good pic, but what a waste of time this month's competition's been for those of us that bothered to get out and take some snaps. I do hope that next month it won't be another case of just raiding the archives. Quote Link to comment

Oh dear, my first win, and a controversial one... Ach No! I wouldn't have said one teddy out of the pram was controversial. The OP made it quite clear that old photo's were allowed. If you win you can set the rule that it must be taken in the month but until then why not just congratulate a fellow cacher on his great picture instead of your insulting post. I was the judge.. I said old pics were OK in an earlier post... complain to me, don't demean a great pic just because you didn't win Grow up and play the game it's supposed to be fun Dave Edited June 1, 2013 by fuzzybears Quote Link to comment
I!
I have nothing against the winning photo; it's a good pic. Just a pity that your choice of rules meant that this month's competition was an archive-mining exercise for many. Never mind, Dave, setting the rules doesn't always work out as one might hope - better luck next time (if I've not frightened you off). Cheers. Quote Link to comment

I didn't set them I copied them from the month before ... and when it's your turn to judge, good luck with proving when they were taken.... All anyone needs to do is log a DNF on a cache nearby during the month or do a maintenance visit on one of their own caches if they really want to dig out an old pic to enter This comp is getting less and less pictures each month and more rules means there will be even less Keep it simple and FUN Dave Quote Link to comment
