Find out about new geocaches near me

Where's the treasure

Recommended Posts

We are still relatively new to geocaching but are really enjoying it. One of the things on our list of things to achieve while geocaching is to be the first to find a cache at least once. Now this is going to take some doing because there are some real dedicated geocachers out there. But is there a way to find out about new caches. Do you need to be a premium member to find out About these? Thanks.

If you are a premium member you can set it up so that you are emailed when a new cache is posted in your area. Everyone however can go to the forums and scroll down to the list of state, click on theirs and see if any of the new ones listed are near them. Te second method is not as reliable as the notification emails but you can get the occasional FTF this way. Also if you like puzzles youcouldtry those as their FTFs tend to take a bit longer to claim.

You can check for new caches by going to your profile http://www.geocaching.com/my/default.aspx and scrolling down to the search section where you will see "List newest in XXX". We actually got a FTF by doing this. You need to check constantly, though, if there are lots of new caches being published in your area.

Premium Members are able to set up notifications to really get the jump on FTF's:

Help Center → Premium Membership → Benefits

1.5. Instant Notifications
