+Atti
Hi, I'm Premium Member and today was the first time that I got an automatic advertising popup (BMW). I understand that you have to make money to keep the servers running and the people paid. That's why I'm a premium member. I'm also willing to accept the banners on the side, but this automatic popup really is getting on my nerves. I open my manage lists site and this BMW-Ad launches a popup window that puts itself in front of my Groundspeak content. Please make the popups at least for PMs go - you already got paid for the use of the site. Thank you Atti Quote Link to comment
Keystone
I spend hours on the website every day, and I have never, ever seen a popup ad. Have you scanned your computer for adware/malware recently? Quote Link to comment

In fact I think the only non-Groundspeak ad I remember seeing in for Landsharkz(coin producer asnd geocaching store) Everything else I think has been Geocachings own store and ads for premium membership. Moun10Bike
We have zero pop-up ads on the web site. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Have to agree with Keystone here. It seems you have something that is linking the ads. I have only seen margin ads dealing directly with Groundspeak or their approved vendors. At that, they weren't pop-up ads. Sounds like you have a case of malware or adware to me. +Atti
Hi, maybe this ad is something that happens unintentionally because of the use of the google ads. The ad is a German ad - so this might only happen to German customers. (BMW) I don't think it's malware. They typically send you porn ads. Nevertheless it's a problem over here. +wmpastor
There's another thread about the pop-up BMW ads, written in German. It seems to be more than an isolated event. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
Groundspeak has already stated its policy on popup ads. Here is the Google AdSense policy. Quote Link to comment

+Gitchee-Gummee
Update... I just had a pop-up ad jump up on screen as I was back-paging. Not an ad for BMW, but an ad for dining experience. It had nothing to do with geocaching.com... it did display a top-line banner stating Mozilla Firefox. Obviously, Firefox is the "culprit" in this instance. Perhaps this is what the OP is seeing.... +K13
I use Firefox exclusively and have NEVER had a popup on any of the GC web pages. Quote Link to comment
+TomToad
Check your Firefox plug-ins and extensions.Just click Tools on the menu and Add-ons to open the Add-ons manager. Look to see if any plug-ins or extensions are installed that you don't recognize. Looking through my add-ons, I came across this extension that I never installed and Firefox managed to block for me. Coupon Companion has been blocked for your protection. Why was it blocked? This add-on doesn't follow our Add-on Guidelines, bypassing our third party install opt-in screen. Users who wish to continue using this extension can enable it in the Add-ons Manager. This would be the second time I have had an add-on installed surreptitiously on Firefox. And it is not just a Firefox issue, the first one that was installed, was also installed to Internet Explorer. And, yeup, just checked and confirmed that Coupon companion also installed onto IE.
