+ZombieDragonfly
Does anyone know how long(how many characters/letters and or spaces)a cache name can be. AND Do spaces count as characters? Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
I'll take the easy part - 'YES' spaces do count for whatever the limit is.......I've seen some very long ones. Quote Link to comment
+Lil Devil
I wouldn't worry too much about how many characters are allowed by the website. What's more important is how many characters are allowed by GPS units. Most have a limit of 30 characters. Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
I don't know what geocaching.com's limit is, but I can tell you that my PN-40 truncates the names to something like 30 characters, including spaces, significantly less that what you can see on the web. That gives me trouble when people have verbose names, particularly if it's a series with a long prefix. "Last Chance for Summer Caching 2" and "Last Chance for Summer Caching 3" got confusing because they weren't unique. Quote Link to comment
+Great Scott!
50 characters and spaces Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
If you want to be nice: Put something unique at the beginning. Otherwise, name away! Quote Link to comment
+TheWeatherWarrior
I think you need to create a cache simply called: "I'm wondering what the longest name for a cache..." OR "12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890" assuming the 50 count is the limit. Edited March 16, 2013 by TheWeatherWarrior Quote Link to comment
+Great Scott!
Dalongestnameforacachethatwouldfitinthisspacecache It appears that the formatting of the cache page only allows for 49 of the characters to be viewed. Edited March 16, 2013 by Great Scott! Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
Dalongestnameforacachethatwouldfitinthisspacecache It appears that the formatting of the cache page only allows for 49 of the characters to be viewed. That's a feature designed to annoy anyone that has a cache with a 50 character name without any spaces. Quote Link to comment
