I am trying to find an attachment for my lap top to use it as a GPS

Bad battery life, not weatherproof. Big. I bought a low end netbook and paid more than I did for a GPS.

 

I wouldn't do it, and I;d advise you not to do it-I'm not even sure if you can.

I have used one made by GlobalSat, and currently have one made by QStarz (BT-Q818X).

This is what storm chasers use:

 

Globsat BU252 GPS USB connected

 

GPSgate port emulator software (so multiple programs can use the one GPS).

 

It works great. you can zip tie the cords and velcro the small GPS 'puck' to the laptop.

 

 

This is the set-up I used when I use to do live streaming while caching (and will re-initiate that activity in May or June).
