+crunched
I have a cache hidden in one city that requires maintenance, however I have since moved interstate. What can I do? I'm now a long way away and it's just not possible for me to visit to fix it. Quote Link to comment

I'm now a long way away and it's just not possible for me to visit to fix it. It looks like both of your caches need maintenance because that are not waterproof. Do know someone in that area that can go and remove them for you? You could post a note on them asking the next cacher that finds them to remove them, and then when that is done, post an archive log which removes them from the active cache listings. Trying to keep a cache alive that you can't maintain is generally not accepted. Quote Link to comment
+Beach_hut
The alternative obviously is if a local cacher can adopt them. But as Don said, the caches can't continue to be listed with you as owner if you can no longer maintain them. Quote Link to comment
+stijnhommes
Yep, you have two options. Either archive them or let another cacher adopt them. If these caches are enjoyed in the local community, I'd try to go for the second option to keep the history alive. Quote Link to comment
+palmetto
If you can find a local that would like to own the cache, you can transfer ownership of the listing easily by using the adoption utility www.geocaching.com/adopt/ This is automated, and easy. An email is sent with the adoption request, the receiver responds and the listing transfers. Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
Should have thought of that before you moved...if you decide to archive please ask a local cached to retrieve them so they don't become geotrash. Quote Link to comment
+joeylovestreasure
Hi I am happy to adopt, have been up and replaced your container and put some new goodies in there too. It is an excellent hiding spot and I live on the other side of the hill. Will send you a message. Joeylovestreasure Quote Link to comment
