How do I find the nearest 5T 5D cache?

I'm only a standard member, and pretty new but I like the idea of hunting for really hard cache! Is there a way to search for one? I can't seem to find it as a search option.

Thanks in advance

Just do a standard zipcode search (from the browse box on the opening page of geocaching.com) for the caches in your area.

When the list of caches loads up, you can click on the D or T (difficulty/terrain) header at the top of the column. Clicking on these will resort the list of caches by most difficult or least difficult......as well as hardest terrain to easiest terrain.

You can also click on the column headers to resort your list by...favorite points, placed date, and last found date.

I attempted it with CJ's basic account and it didn't work.

Only premium members can sort lists. The OP isn't a premium member.

Not knowing your location, best I could do was pull up your previous finds and work from one of those using a 100 mile radius.

Here are a few (non-premium):

If looking for really hard caches you often better off not going for D5/T5 as most that I have seen so far are really a D1-2/T5. Like "it's high in that tree, you need climbing gear, but you can see it from below" kind of caches, which should be D1. And because it's so dadgum hard to get to the cache (T5) they also make it D5. Many people mix up D and T ratings.

Try to look for slightly lower rated caches, like D4/T4. Those are generally truly tough. Or a D4/T5 or D5/T4 cache. But do read the description to see if it's a really tough one, or just pretending to be tough.

I've got a D4/T5 out there. D4 as you need six other caches that are far apart to get numbers to calculate final coordinates. It's out there for over a year, I know one person tried but failed to get to GZ, the vegetation was too dense. Was fun placing that one, almost failed myself :-)

Hi, thanks for all your replies. Indeed sorting the search result columns appears to be a Premium only tool. I'm hoping someone will upgrade me for my birthday ;)

Thanks J Grouchy for putting in that bit of work for me! I will definitely have a lookfor some of those.

If anyone else is wondering, the IPhone app lets you do an advanced search where you can move some sliders for D and T.

I love the idea of climbing some trees!
