This shows why NGS bothers to keep NAD83 distinct from WGS84. WGS84 is tied to the average of all the earth's motion. NAD83 is tied to the ground. The result is this annual change in WGS84 coordinates for a fixed point on the ground.

 

Note the scale in the upper left corner of the picture. The US has it easy compared to much of the world.

Edit: Interesting bug in the Groundspeak software that I've noticed before: This thread showed 0 replies, 0 views. I was almost certain it had been viewed by SOMEBODY. I posted a reply and it jumped to 1 reply 58 views immediately.
