Can't contact holder of my TB

I think my travelbug has gone away for good. :( It was my first TB and I only released it in December. Somebody picked it up (a member with no finds) and promised to bring it on its way (It was heading east). It's been a month and I went to go contact him to see how he was doing and find this message under his profile. "The "send message" feature is disabled because this user is currently inactive." Has my TB gone the way of many TB's before it?

Sadly, this is the way many TB's go. Greenhorn cachers, muggled caches, etc... Few ever make it back into the hands of their owners. I've found this out the hard way through spending a fair amount of money on TBs and Geocoins only to have them lost in the system a few months after I've put them out. In my minds eye, its just not worth the money anymore. :(

i have found coins don't last 5 minutes in my town so i have registered coins and they're for people to discover and nothing more. sadly though i haven't banged into another cacher for them to discover them

Not too sure exactly what "Inactive User" means, and looking in the forums did not provide any clear definition either. But I did notice today that the user who took your TB last visited GC.COM on Feb 28th 2013. Strange to see that this user has zero cache logs. Did he/she delete them all? I cheched the cache logs where the TB was picked up from and that cache was not logged on the day when the TB was logged. Maybe this is a player who is only intested in TB's and not the caches? I wouldn't hold a memorial for the TB just yet, it may start moving again in the spring or summer.

Look closer at the holders profile... signed on to geocaching.com, no finds and no hides, and only that one trackable picked up.

Quite possibly it (the account) was created as a result of the tag making reference to "Trackable at Geocaching.com" -- the holder looked at the site, signed on, then simply forgot about it, never to return.

More than likely, the holder never responded to the verification email sent out by geocaching.com after signing on. No response creates an automatic "inactive" status.

Sorry to say this... but you really should consider that trackable gone for good. It may reappear sometime, and that would be a bonus! Stranger things have happened.
