JQ004 - French Creek A cache by TEAM JackQuest Hidden: 03/02/2001

N 40° 12.009 W 075° 49.298

In Pennsylvania, United States

My first cache. Just found the website last night and decided it might be an interesting thing to do between orienteering meets. Used no GPS or Compass, but did check Topozone and put the spot on an orienteering map which I left there for someone else to use. Also left a French Creek East Orienteering map for someone else to use for the other French Creek caches. Took 3 old foreign coins... My pre determined spot was off by about 10 meters NE, but the description on the website made it very simple. Took 17 minutes to get to the general area and two more to find the box. Mt Penn will be next....

:)Found it 2012/01/27

Good cache. I had a time finding it, but it wasn't anyone's fault but my goofy Garmin eTrex Legend. It has a hard time finding satellites at the best of times, and I visited this site when the sky was overcast. Never could get better than 30 feet of accuracy! After climbing a lot (difficult for a big guy!) I finally decided to look in a slightly more obvious place. Ta da!

Thanks for taking the time to get permission and hide this nice cache.

BTW, this was my first look and my first find. I'm just getting into GC.

My first online log:

GC33KMP

4/07/2013

Just found it. Kattunja and my first cache found. Left a geocoin.

In the log I just wrote my name, the date and thank you.

It was my first cache found and I jumped in with both feet. I had purchased a coin, activated it and put it in the cache.
