GT.US
I had an email from from a gentleman who is compiling a book of Holocaust Memorials asking if he could use my pictures. I'm not sure if there is anyone else who has Holocaust waymarks that has been contacted, but if you have one and it's okay for him to use your pictures, can you please reply here? Julian H. He can use my photos for our Holocaust waymark WMF8JQ (if he thinks this will fit into his project) with a photo credit. He can contact me through the Waymarking website. Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
Oh wow, a book of Holocaust Memorials? That is wonderful! I bet he really appreciates any good photos of the monuments. Quote Link to comment
GT.US
I did invite him to create waymarks from the memorials we don't have. Quote Link to comment
+thatdarndane
I would consider it an honor if someone wanted to use a picture I'd taken and not worry about whether others were contacted or not or whether I got credit for it. Quote Link to comment
GT.US
I would consider it an honor if someone wanted to use a picture I'd taken and not worry about whether others were contacted or not or whether I got credit for it. I put a blurb in my profile that says exactly how I feel. People are all over the board on their feelings about other using their pictures. The safest thing to do is state it somewhere. The profile isn't really the best place to list, because people can't see your profile unless they are logged on. I recently approved a waymark for someone that put copyright and creative commons licence statement into the photo description so that it shows on the mouseover. Quote Link to comment
+Benchmark Blasterz
I commonly allow use on my photos FOR FREE with a photo credit. No photo credit, no AUTHORIZED use. For nonprofit groups, I give my pictures to support their organization, but with a restriction to use my photos for non commercial purposes only. That system works for me and for the people and organizations that I support with my photos. I have never had anyone refuse to give a photo credit or insinuate that a request for a credit was inappropriate. I have never had any person or organization use my photos for anything other than the intended purpose. I know this has happened to other photographers, however. Each photographer can make up their own minds about how (or whether) they will allow their work to be used. Those decisions are personal to each photographer. I support and respect each photographer's preferences in this area -- the ones who plaster "© by name, all rights reserved" diagonally across their photos in colored text and the ones who are willing to freely give without attribution or restriction. May God bless us all as we practice out art and our craft. Quote Link to comment
