I am trying to get the details of any active geocaches that were placed either in California or an adjacent state in November of 2000.

I created a special PQ for this task.

Select the various states of interest by using CTRL-click. In my case I selected all of the contiguous states (since there are in some cases only one or two caches in the whole country placed in a particular month).

Leave most of the settings 'wide open', but filter by the placed month(s).

DO NOT RUN THE PQ, but view the results and then put the caches on a bookmark list (I called mine 'Jasmer Candidates').

I used this approach and got the results I was looking for. In fact I managed to garner from GC.com five caches that fit the criteria I was using.
