+RAD Dad 0 Posted May 2, 2002 Is it still hard to get a license to use a ham? I remember when I was a kid, my best friends dad was into ham. It took him a while just to be able to use morse code, then a bunch more studying to pass some test to be able to use voice. Is it still like that? Do you still have to jump through a bunch of hoops, take a bunch of tests, learn morse code, in addition to the costs of the license? ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it. Steak N Eggs 0 Posted May 3, 2002 First is the "Tech" class of licence. 35 word multiple-guess test in which you can miss up to eight and still pass. Good for any amature band above 50 mhz. Next is the General class in which you need to know the code (at a blistering SLOW 5 words per min) and another 40 question test. Then the Extra class, which only requires an additional 50 question test. The highest class you can get. "My gps say's it RIGHT HERE". http://www.geogadgets.com 12 caches in 12 hours.
