+maxx borchovski
So with the impending weather chaos predicted with the snowstorms approaching from the Atlantic on Friday, who is still planning on going out cache hunting this weekend? Maybe post some photos of the snow from your caching expeditions. Quote Link to comment
+eusty
It's not the snow which is the problem but the temperature...Mrs eusty doesn't like the cold!! Quote Link to comment
+Oxford Stone
Two short lunchtime caching walks today and yesterday in woods N of Maidenhead. Snow on the ground, -2 according to my car just now. Feel really braced for it. On Monday I did an urban one - parked 20 yards away but there was a blizzard. Might go urban again this weekend as I'm on quite a good stretch by my standards, albeit one a day in my lunch hour. Some caches might even show up more in snow - others will be totally buried. Should be an interesting weekend's sport. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
But..... it was only a 3-Difficulty.... Quote Link to comment
+whh0
We'll be out this weekend. The way I see it, is that if the ground is frozen there will be no mud!! Quote Link to comment
+sparklefingers
I am hoping to go out to a couple of caches this weekend. Don't know if I will cause it means driving in the snow and I hate that... Quote Link to comment

Don't know if I will cause it means driving in the snow and I hate that... Totally agree, it's the travelling with the kids in the car that I probably won't risk so I have saved one local cache till the weekend which hopefully will double up as a couple of hours snowman building, sledging. Not sure what the kids will be doing mind you!lol. Quote Link to comment
+redsox_mark
I have caching plans on Sunday which I hope to be able to do; but if the roads are bad I will cancel. I hope I can go ahead, as it is one which requires coordination with a team in Canada, and we have agreed on a specific time. From the local forecast it looks to be the worst here on Friday; I'm hoping by Sunday the roads will be OK. Quote Link to comment

I keep putting one off though as its a multi cache and I'm not a fan of those. Quote Link to comment
+MartyBartfast
Will definitely be doing some caching, I've even taken tomorrow off. There's some loose plans for a bit of a get together to do some slightly unusual caches on Sunday which will involve a bit of a drive so that may get canned if the snow is too bad, but if so I'll find somewhere to walk to. Back in 2010 when we had a lot of snow and I was on my own for the weekend I walked >21km from home to grab a few, so if all else fails I'll do that again. Quote Link to comment

(Just went to look at a cache I failed to find on Sunday and found you've also failed to find cache) what direction of caches are you looking for? If I can drive then I'm planning Stanton and Stratton area if not I'm popping to the messenger for lunch n then doing the multi next to it. Quote Link to comment
+redsox_mark
I'm hoping to do these (near Bristol Airport) Gemini UK The Felton Highwayman Quote Link to comment
+NickandAliandEliza
We will be. In the Cairngorms. Should be pretty warm......... Quote Link to comment
+MartyBartfast
~2 inches of snow ~5.5 miles walked. 1 cache found (that's all I went for) Quote Link to comment
+redsox_mark
Well done MartyB. I'm not going anywhere this weekend. The main roads aren't bad, but in my immediate area they are untreated and we don't have a 4WD or anything. My nearest unfound cache would involve a 2 hour walk on icy pavements for a supermarket micro... Quote Link to comment
BOBBLES WORLD TOUR
As I book flights for oil workers I volunteered to work today and tomorrow. Only the UK seems a problem. Quids in. Should pay for a couple of long weekends away walking and-a-caching. Quote Link to comment
+Oxford Stone
I did two urban trad's - both with snow underfoot - and then 3 virtuals in my home city today. Should have done a virtual yesterday when my 20-day stretch broke! Oh well it's there as a target for the summer. Quote Link to comment
+Legochugglers
Wanted to do some caching today. Read the local weather warning where the specific advice was to ensure you only travel with ...Spare blankets, shovel, drinking water, emergency food supplies, large torch with spare batteries, sleeping bag, car repair/tool kit, first aid kit. I felt a right pillock on the bus! Quote Link to comment
+sparklefingers
Yeah I didn't get out caching. I worked out a puzzle and tried to remember the details I had for the multi I was going to go to today but that was as far as it got. Instead feet up in front of the telly playing Xbox. big kid me. +MartyBartfast
Well after my post on Friday (above) I then went out in the afternoon for another 3.5 miles, 2 caches & 3 pints on the way back Saturday there were no caches for me within walking distance so me & the missus did ~4 miles to grab one she hadn't found. Sunday still no caches within walking distance so did a final recce of a series I'm putting out and did another ~5.5 miles. All of the above was somewhat necessitated by having to take the Mother in law's dog out 'cos she couldn't go anywhere in the snow. Quote Link to comment
+whh0
Did 8 over the weekend in the snow. Some nice kind person placed 3 lovely new caches on our doorstop which were published on Friday, so we picked those up on Saturday and then on Sunday, as the roads were clear, picked up a few park and grab ones. It was fab as there was hardly anyone around - and NO MUD Quote Link to comment
+NickandAliandEliza
Blue sky between the snow flurries. 1 cache and 14 1/2 miles.... Quote Link to comment
sau00btk
For what it's worth...I only started caching last weekend (in the snow) and have racked up 10 finds so far. There's still plenty of snow on the ground in Norfolk which makes looking under bushes etc more difficult but it's definitely not impossible...I'm hooked! Quote Link to comment
