Photo Competition - January 2013

Recommended Posts

Thanks to The Blorenges for choosing our photo as the winner of the last Photo Competition, we've certainly never won a photo competition before and there were some excellent entries against us.

Sorry for the delay in announcing the next subject matter - that'll teach us not to read the small print. :rolleyes: Anyway with winter being a depressing time for so many people we thought that the January Competition would be an ideal time to look at the first signs of spring emerging and hopefully cheer us all up.

Theme: New Life

Good luck to everyone.

The rules are:

1) The photo must be cache related and to do with a specific UK cache (any type including events), caching series or caching trip - please include a link to the cache or the GC.... code so we can see where the picture relates to.

2) Maximum of two photos per caching team or cacher.

3) A new thread is started each month, with the OP stating these rules.

4) The winner each month is decided by the winner from the previous month - the new winner starting the thread for the subsequent month. They may set a theme if they wish.

5) Follow the theme

Would you believe that the best photos I've taken since the left side of Harry Redknapp's head and I can't even enter them into the competition -

Taken in the garden of our holiday cottage just before we left to walk to Loch Garten Musical View, so they don't count;

They probably don't fit with the theme either, as it was apparent that most of the birds were still struggling with the winter and not even thinking of creating new life.

This one was taken near the cache site, but not on the day we found the cache;

Oh dear, there are not many entries this month. The theme makes it a little tricky, but searching through my photos, I think I found something appropriate:

I had picked up a Travel Bug called twinnys: Signal Lini TB43MKE. It's mission was to travel the world and wanted lots of photos, so I took him out to my pond to meet some real frogs who were busy making new life there.

Then later that day I dropped him in a local cache A Geocache Everywhere, GC37MHT

Well little did we know that shortly after we set the theme for this competition the whole country would get smothered in snow, putting Spring and new life on hold for quite a while. :huh:

Thank you everyone who took part in the competition. We loved the excellent frog photos but eventually decided that this month's winning photo should be the birds nest submitted by martin&lindabryn. Well done Martin and Linda, let's hope the weather is kinder to all the photographers in February.

came across this fence post with a small birds nest and eggs last year, while looking for "Old Connahs Quay to Buckley Line - Mold Road GC24E3D"

This one is not for the competition, it's just to let Mandy see what the frogs were doing the previous year :blink: I entered it into my local camera club competition and gave it the title "Four Play".
