I have a member in the area that has over 700 hidden caches. Is it possible to ignore this one member instead of ignoring all caches individually.

Nope. Many have asked, none have received. Might be a way to do it through GSAK, but since I've never wanted to wholesale ignore another cacher, I've never looked into it.

Thank you. I have sampled geocaaching over the past couple years and am ready to jump in with both feet. I just became a premium member and haven't found it too adventageous yet.

Try running pocket queries. I don't know how people cache without pocket queries. Then you'll begin to appreciate the membership.

Then look for some "member only" caches.

Then complete a challenge cache and use a bookmark list to do it. So much easier!

Then...

That's why I am not currently a premium member. Sometimes, I get a premium membership just to support the site, but there's nothing a pocket query can do that I can't do better with a little time and the geocaching map. I even found the premium caches to be worse than the basic ones, in general.

I don't think anybody ever promised "premium caches" (a misnomer... they are premium MEMBER caches) to be any better than non-PM hides. The quality of the hide has nothing at all to do with the membership status of the hider. There is certainly nothing about a PM-only hide that would automatically make them "worse than the basic ones, in general", either.

One of the things I find interesting is that different premium members find different premium features advantageous. For example, some people find notifications essential; I never use them. But I find bookmark lists essential, and others never use them, so I guess it all evens out.

There have been a lot of reasons for PMO caches mentioned by owners of PMO caches. A few are related to protecting "better than average" caches. Most aren't. And sometimes, a cache becomes PMO because the better original cache was muggled, and the owner replaces it with something cheaper and makes it PMO to protect it.

That's what I used to think. I'm not sure why they would be worse, but they were. Generally, the more established the cacher, the more numbers-oriented they became, the lamer the hides, and the more likely they were to be premium members with premium hides. At least, that's my take on it. All I know is that where I go geocaching, the premiums averaged worse than the basic ones. We can argue the why of it, but I know what I saw.
