+scificollector
I am assuming that they mean Pantone Matching System (PMS) Quote Link to comment
RedShoesGirl
Why would anyone want PMS? seriously. Quote Link to comment
+nevadanick
I am assuming that they mean Pantone Matching System (PMS) I believe the reference to 'Pantone' is likely the correct one. The only other common 'PMS' is referring to Programmable Memory Sticks. In any event, someone is likely to report this thread and have it moved somewhere ... but unknown where in geocaching it might fit ... Quote Link to comment
+scificollector
PMS can be used in the minting process for non translucent enamels for geocoins. When you tell the mint that you want a particular color, you can refer to the PMS color and have a reasonable assurance that it will be approximate the right one. That would be my guess as to why it was posted here. Perhaps they thought that some geocoin designer would possibly be able to answer their question. Quote Link to comment

+fox-and-the-hound
The answer is you want to keep the "Solid Coated" version PMS book (also called a Chip Set or Color Guide) for enamel matching. The mint uses the same guide on their end. Do not use either for exact match if it is a "Process Color" version book. Solid only, coated only. You can find more info here: http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/category.aspx?ca=1 Quote Link to comment
