New to Geocaching - What GPS

Hello am new to Geocaching, and wondering what is the best type of gps device as I am looking at the Etrex H, 10 or the Colorado 300.

 

Will all these devices work with a mac laptop.

Why are those your choices? Where are you getting a Colorado 300?

 

What is your price range?

Just looking at them, as a friend of mine pointed me to these devices, and he was going to sell his Colorado 300 to me, but might just be a bit too expensive

for my first gps unit for geocaching.

 

Price range is maybe £50-£60 for my first one, as its purely at the moment for geocaching.

Pass on the H, move the 10 up to a 20 and BUY it.

 

The 20 seems the real choice for price conscious Garmin shoppers, today.

True, the 10 is cheaper but you won't be really happy with the grey-scale screen and no memory-card slot.

eTrex 20 should be thereabouts £80 -- guessing as I am not up-to-date with exchange rates.

 

Shop around online for better deals, they are out there for Christmas shoppers.

 

Edit to add: If you end up not liking geocaching, the 20 is far easier to sell.....

Don't think you'll find the Etrex 20 that cheap ... around £120 plus at the mo. At that price the best you can probably do new is either the Etrex 10 or Dakota 10, or one of the older Etrex line, still a good GPS.

 

thanks, for that i will have a look at the touchscreen dakota 10 or the etrex or colorado has a starting point, with the view to upgrade to a better quality one soon after, starting on a small budget as i am just new into geocaching and dont want to spend a lot of money lol...

Hiya, I could use my phone but not sure on the Internet usge as well for the app as I don't get a lot of Internet data on my phone per month.

That's why I was sort of looking at a cheaper gps to start with.

i got a magellan 310 for 200 dollers. this little divice is a nice compact and hanheld. it works nice it just takes a little to get used to.
