An eight year old Premium account with no recorded finds and no hides, making your first post here to ask this question. Usually I would have expected a much quicker answer from someone, but it is Thanksgiving. So here is your answer. Both sets of numbers refer to EXACTLY the same location. You did indicate that you already know the top line to be Latitude and Longitude in the Degree, Minute, Decimal Minute Format. The bottom line is for the same location in the (UTM) Universal Transverse Mercator Format. Here is a link to the best UTM grid map I know: World UTM Grid Map After clicking on the link, when the UTM Grid Map appears, click on the Map to magnify it a little. You can actually see the grid square labeled 30S. The remainder of the digits specify the location within that grid square. There are many Latitude/Longitude-UTM conversion calculators available online. My favorite converter is WINDOWS compatible and is downloadable free at this link: FizzyCalc If you need any more info just ask. Someone will help. Quote Link to comment

I do some Waymarking and hunting for benchmarks. I am a computer programmer. I am interested in writing programs which use GPS and am trying to understand the formulas for calculating distance and bearing. Quote Link to comment
