Cache Neglect

Recommended Posts

OK we all know these people. I live in a very rural area and geocaching isn't very popular. However I love it and so do quite a few more people in the area. There is a small, spread out series of caches in my area and a few stragglers that are really close to my house, which is rare. I have searched them all over with no luck like the 20 DNF's before me. I clicked on the owner of the caches name and they haven't been on for a while. The other day I go to a cache trying to get a FTF and I see the owner of the previous caches name on my FTF!! So they have been caching hard in the area for over a month and a half and still haven't gone to check there own caches... drives me crazy. I've heard of "Angel Caches" and all that but why should I waist my time fixing other peoples caches when they are out caching. The only thing I know to do is what I and a few others have done, write notes on the listing and hope that it gets through to them. I didn't know if it was something I could talk to a reviewer about.

I've been caching since the beginning of August and I am flat out enjoying it. I would enjoy it more though if people took care of their caches. Which more than likely has got to be the biggest complaint made by geocachers.

If said cacher is using a phone app to log caches it won't show up on here as his last logged in date. Try using the needs maintenance logs as mentioned by Keystone. The cachers is obviously active but if no-one sets a NM log he may not know about them.
