I quit as Leader, Officer and member in all my groups.

Recommended Posts

I would like to thank everybody for the confidence in my work in recent years on Waymarking.

Specially the Leaders who have promoted me to an Officer in their category.

I can't personally thank all hundreds of Members with whom I have had contact by Waymarking.

That is why I use this forum.

The task of an Officer is to manage the Group/Category.

To make corrections so that the Group looks beautiful at Waymarking.

To Write Nice and Thx comments on new postings.

To assist new Waymarkers friendly if they make a small mistake.

Explain what the conditions are to visit on posting and in a friendly manner.

That is the task of an Officer.

But as a Waymarker with 37 postings last week is not listening.

Also not listening to a number of requests from other Officers.

Even after a few friendly emails.

And he determined its rules in our groups. (and not only ours)

He sends emails to Leaders, Officers and Members at Waymarking and told lies about me.

He threatened and screams only to me.

Then I want after all of this still only be a Happy Groundspeak Member.

I am still a Happy Waymarker and Geocacher. Specialy Waymarking. :)

But now on my own way.

So in the coming hours, there will be some shifts take place in some Groups/Categories.

With kind regards and Happy Waymarking.

Officers like you are the ones we want to KEEP!

Dear John,

Unfortunately annoying people are everywhere around us.

But you really shouldn't let them upset you!

Please reconsider your decision, sleep it over a while and then return.

We can't manage these categories without you...

I agree with your vision of your role in the hobby -- we are all newbies at some point and appreciate constructive comments and help.

And while I respect your decision to walk away (it is your COMPLETE right, and no one knows when enough is enough except that person whose limit has been reached), I also hope you will consider staying in the arena long enough to work some reforming white light in the troubled places you mentioned. You can support and advance reform in ways that do not require direct contact with the person who has brought you to this walking-away place.

I know this is true because I have a few such battle scars, but each one was worth it because (1) I was able to lead my troubled place to a brighter future, and (2) because when I left the arena, I left things better than I found them. :)

Think hard, and make the decision that works best for you and your family. This is all supposed to be F-U-N

John,

Thanks for your notes.

I've been where you are. Anyone who stays here, or almost anywhere, will run into some rude people. I know it is not pleasant to be the brunt of these kinds of attacks. I've had my own sad experiences here, and have been close to pulling out altogether.

Here are several reasons why I have chosen to stay>\:

1. I love Waymarking. There are more important things in live, but I love this too much to give it up.

2. I care about the good people. There are so many, many wonderful people that I've worked with in Waymarking, and I don't want to let them down. Their goodness outweighs the rudeness and abuse of a few.

3. I will NOT let the bad people win. If I let them drive me away from the hobby I love and the people I work with, then they have won and I have lost. I refuse to give them the power to do that.

This hobby is big enough that I can always find a place, many places, where I can be quite happy and leave the garbage behind. There are a few categories I really avoid because I know there are problems there. There is more than enough to do. I know that those of us who have been privileged to have you as a fellow officer will be sad to have you leave.

The welcome mat is out if you decide the time is right to join us again.

PS: Unfortunately, there seem to be few options to deal with unreasonable officers and leaders or even ones that are abusive. My experience has been that Groundspeak policy is to do nothing.
