my gps supports 5000 geocaches but only 200 gpx files. is there a way to batch my geocaches together and also is there a way to download multiple geocaches at a time. i want to download all the caches from my town but i dont want to get them 1 by 1. and also for other towns a frequent often. on top of that can i find out if there are newer caches that were placed. maybe filter the list by the date they were added to the site?

thank you for your help

Knowing what GPSr unit helps....

If your device supports 5,000 geocaches and you are concerned about the "200 GPX note", you are concerned about the wrong thing.

Learn Pocket Queries (PQ's) as user13371 suggests.

You can load any number from 1 - 1,000 geocaches in a single shot, up to five times per day.

Just remember, 5,000 loaded geocaches are a lot. The data becomes "stale" and outdated within a couple of weeks as new caches are placed and others are disabled or archived. If you use data from a month ago, you will probably be looking for some caches that aren't there anymore and missing the new ones that have been placed just yards nearby.

Davina,

Once you get the hang of Pocket Queries you can also take a look at the Geocaching tool GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife). This tool will allow you to manage and merge your GPX files and therefore you could load 5,000 caches in one GPX file.

I have a Magellan eXplorist 710 and it will allow 10,000 and there are times when I'm heading out on a 4 wheeling Geocaching trip, when I'm not sure where I'm going to end up, that I will load 5,000-7,000 caches covering a major portion of the area where I live and I it only take about 10 minutes to do complete the entire download and loading process.

Good luck and happy caching,

David
