+Mudfrog
Don't think this is a bug but i wasn't sure where to ask. Most profiles come up fine but there are a few that i get this: When it does occur, everything slows down. The "busy" cursor comes up, and then the error box similar to above pops up. I have a feeling that this is due to all the non gc.com cache statistics that some cachers place on their page. My old computer may be the culprit but it is annoying just the same. Any suggestions on how to alleviate or stop this from happening. By the way, i did download and run a "fixit" mentioned on Microsoft but that didn't help. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
RuideAlmeida
I would suggest that you use another browser... updating IE or Firefox, by instance. Quote Link to comment
+hzoi
I get that from time to time when I check profiles from work; we use IE 8 and I don't have the authorization to update it. Every time I see it, it's on people who use third party statistic generators like GSAK + FindStatGen, or GCStatistic. My own profile would do it to me, back when I used a combination of GCStatistic and FindStatGen. Never had any problems viewing it at home using Firefox, though. So: just stop running the script, you'll be fine. Quote Link to comment

Not sure why but it was flaky on my machine both times so i went back to IE8. How do i stop running scripts? And if i do disable scripts, what might i be missing on other pages that use them? This error only comes up when looking at gc.com user profiles. Quote Link to comment
+The A-Team
So: just stop running the script, you'll be fine. How do i stop running scripts? I think hzoi meant to just click "Yes" in the displayed warning. Quote Link to comment
+Don_J
I would suggest that you use another browser... updating IE or Firefox, by instance. I get it in FF 16 as well. Out of curiosity, I downloaded the code for one guys profile and was amazed that it was over 2.5 megabytes in size. It took forever to load and threw the script error. After it loaded, FF in general was sluggish until I closed that tab. There was just too much in that particular profile. People viewing don't really need a hotlink to all 5K+ caches that he has found, as well as the 500 FTFs, each with the cache icon graphic next to it. A lot of the Findstats plugins were designed by people that have around 100 finds. They work well in their profiles but become overwhelming after a point. Quote Link to comment

They had nearly every section and additional FindStatGen plugin added, and the profile page came out to a whopping 10 MB when I downloaded it. On IE7 at work (yeah yeah, it's old, I can't do anything about it), the script error was thrown nearly a dozen times before the page finished loading many minutes later. Even at home on my high-speed connection and computer, Firefox 16 threw a single script error. I think the biggest problem was simply the sheer amount of data that the browser needed to process (I believe it was on the order of 26000 lines of HTML!). I've never seen a script error when viewing my own profile page, but I have far less than this person did. Quote Link to comment

I feel for anyone who's on dialup and happens to click on one of these profiles. Edited October 31, 2012 by Mudfrog Quote Link to comment
