Getting Permission

Hi All,

We have been doing our research about placing a cache which we will do in the future once we have done some more so far we have done 29,

so to prepare we emailed the local ranger at a nearby loch which is run by our local council to get permission that was 2 weeks ago and we have not had a reply. Is it always this hard to get permission and is there any areas you do not need permission?

Any advice would be great

Thanks

some permissions are a real pita to get, especially when the person you're dealing with is a bit tardy at relying to emails.

Also some organisations have already undertaken blanket agreements to place caches, many of these agreements can be viewed on the GAGB site, I wonder if the agreement with Scottish Natural Heritage would already cover you?

SNH do not own/manage much land so it's pretty rare that they can actually give permission for a cache. If a cache is in an sssi it requires landowner permission.

Bobbyleggo- if the rangers haven't replied I'd try emailing again or phoning and trying to organise a time when you can visit and take a few sample caches to give them an idea if what you want to do. If its school holidays down your way the rangers could be busy with other activities just now. From personal experience they don't always give emails top priority but will probably be keen to encourage caching in the park.
