First time

Welcome. Do you have a smart phone? There are apps if you do have one.

 

There's even some free ones. I got started using the free version of the Geocaching App on the iPhone.

 

Failing that, I know that some people actually cache without a GPS of anytype - they print off the maps and go searching by eyeball. Personally I'd only recommend it for virtual caches which isn't quite the same as traditional caching. Other than that, my in-laws use a car GPS to cache, and while the battery life isn't that great, they've managed to get far more caches this year than me!

The next London event is on Nov 14th, in near Farringdon station, so almost round the corner from you. If you can make it come along for a chat & a pint, there will probably be a few different GPSs around for you to have a look at and plenty of advice from some old lags.
