Hi was introduced by friends to geocashing in Canada whilst there on vacation.

I am seeking help for first trek.

I live in Angel Islington London and I know there are caches near by.

Want to try before the next step of buying GPS. Any offers .

There are usually events going on in London and these have no shortage of helpful souls who will show you the ropes. The only one I can see at the moment is a flash mob in November http://coord.info/GC3WY80, if you post a will attend and ask for help you might get a response.

Every month there's a weekday evening event in a pub in Central London somewhere. The October one was on the 11th, so the next will be sometime in November, keep an eye out for it and come along if you can.

There's even some free ones. I got started using the free version of the Geocaching App on the iPhone.

 

Failing that, I know that some people actually cache without a GPS of anytype - they print off the maps and go searching by eyeball. Personally I'd only recommend it for virtual caches which isn't quite the same as traditional caching. Other than that, my in-laws use a car GPS to cache, and while the battery life isn't that great, they've managed to get far more caches this year than me!

The next London event is on Nov 14th, in near Farringdon station, so almost round the corner from you. If you can make it come along for a chat & a pint, there will probably be a few different GPSs around for you to have a look at and plenty of advice from some old lags.
