Circular cycle routes in the Midlands

Can anybody recommend some circular cycle routes in the Midlands area where me and my kids could pick up some caches en route.

 

Ideally I am looking for something less than an hours drive/40 miles from Nuneaton.

The cycle route should be suitable/safe for 2 children aged 8 and 11.(ie preferably not on country roads. Up to 10 miles max and about 20 caches would be nice.

We have done the cycle route/caches around Conkers country park which was perfect so something similar to that would be ideal.

NOT circular, but the Greenway in Stratford may fit the bill...

First cache and a few others along the way and near by!

Not circular but have a look at the Brampton Valley Trail which is the old railway line from Northampton to Market Harborough. Probably too far for one day so split it into two. with something like 30 caches along the way..

 

Starts at GC2BJQY and heads almost due north from there.

Not sure on the distance from you but there is a series around Carsington water near Ashbourne. There is about 1/2 a mile along lanes the rest is surfaced it is a bit steep in places we did it a few years back with a 6 year old on his bike.

Is Northampton, in range?

 

We have completed half of the Firs Trial today. For us it was on foot. But it was also popular with off road cyclists. (Providing you don't mind getting dirty)

Also Rutland water, is the midlands cycling mecca. But I believe its over your 10 mile limit.

There is also the Norbital cycle route around Northampton - Lots of caches on a cycle path.

Have a look at www.geocachetrails.com for some routes. It's a good source for finding places out of your usual area.
