So I tried to post a find and it said I exceeded the number of characters I can use. So where do I find out what the limit is.

Sorry I don't know the limit but I'm sure someone will post it. What people do when they have a long post is break it up. The first part in your "found" log, the second part in a "note" log.

Interesting. It used to be on the log form and counted down as you typed. I believe that it is 4000 characters.

 

Edit to add. I have a Firefox/greasemonky script called Log Maximizer which displays the limit and counts down. It is 4000 characters.

It may very well have counted down what I was using- I just wasn't paying attention and I couldn't find the limit mentioned anywhere. Thanks for the response- now to do a little editing...

Yes, it is 4000 characters...this includes punctuation and spaces.

 

If your log is too long, break it into pieces and post half of it as a note.

Be sure to post the second half first, so the two sections will flow together.

Problem solved!

 

P.S. I have see logs so long they needed three sections to be fit in.

it is 4,000 characters but i hope this limit doesnt deter you from using up the 4,000 character limit and continuing your log with a note extension. for me personally as the 'log author' for teamseek it's very difficult ( I'm sure it's my passion,excitement and longwindedness) when we experience a great cache, to keep it short. Just know that CO's appreciate it when finders show appreciation for their hides by posting a 'long log.' As a CO myself, no log is too long! When we receive a long log or a log posted by a cacher who obviously enjoyed one of our hides, it only makes us want to go out and hide more!
