+Understandblue
The thead heading may be misleading... The subject of the thread is whether the CO should be able to see who is watching his caches from the watchlist. It's not misleading at all - I'm just puzzled about why knowing who is watching a cache is either intriguing or helpful to a cache owner. The reasons to watch seem so .... not intriguing and no more helpful than knowing a total number of watchers. To you perhaps. To the majority of people using a GPS to find a film pot behind a sign or a sandwich box under a dead tree is so .... not interesting. So illuminate me. What is intriguing or helpful as a cache owner about knowing the identity of watchers? Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
Anyway, back in '04 it was a point of pride when 35 people were 'watching' your listing, not a reason to be suspicious or paranoid. Quote Link to comment

What is intriguing or helpful as a cache owner about knowing the identity of watchers? I'm not a CO at the moment but if I do get around to placing a cache or two I'd just be curious to know who was watching my cache. If I wanted to know why they were watching I could email them to ask, but in the meantime it just satisfies my curiosity - for a puzzle cache it would be interesting to see how many of the people who were watching the cache had solved it, how many had found it, that kind of thing. +Markwell
Again - I don't have any caches on my watch list. I use a series of Bookmark Lists, notifications and PQs to get my information on cache pages. I'd suggest that Groundspeak just remove this archaic and meaningless number. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Basic members, some here since the beginning, can't do bookmarks or PQs. The watchlist is all they have to work with. What seems archaic to you is a useful tool for others. Remove the number, but keep the "watch" function I think would work... Quote Link to comment

I still feel that way! If I've got 10% of that -- 3.5 people -- watching my cache, I'm ecstatic! Quote Link to comment

+Markwell
And by archaic, I meant the number - not the feature. The number just shows those using the watchlist, and doesn't include all those that cachers that are indeed monitoring the cache. Quote Link to comment
