+DarkZen
What is the best method for downloading caches to my Garmin GPS from my Mac. I have the current OSX. I have tried downloading the driver from Garmin with no luck. Is there a third party app that anyone uses/knows of? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
+rtyrie
When I plug my Garmin Oregon into my MacBook, the gps automatically shows up as a device in the Finder sidebar. I then just copy the gpx file(s) to the "gpx" folder for that device. I have not installed any drivers or other software. Quote Link to comment

If you have an older unit like a 60csx (which we still use) MacGPS pro will get it over. I open the GPX save it and then transfer. It does what we need it to do. We use an iPod and Geosphere for paperless via iTunes and the Mac. Quote Link to comment
+Two Ton Whale
This little guide may help you, should work the same with your GPS:: Here is a short guide to download a GPX file from a cache page to a Garmin Oregon (450) on a Mac. If doing a PQ, just download the PQ instead of the single cache and follow the same steps. 1. Go to the cache page required, and click GPX File (highlighted. It should then download and is visible in the Downloads dialog box if using Safari. 2. Go to Finder, select 'Today' from the left hand panel and find the GPX file. Select it, then press Cmd+C to copy it. 3. Select your Garmin from the Desktop. 4. Once the Garmin is open in finder, go Garmin -->GPX --> and then press Cmd+V to copy it. Eject your Garmin by dragging it to the recycle bin, and now the GPX file should be on your GPS. Quote Link to comment
+hankpixie
Here's a great wiki page on the Garmin Oregon, not sure how it works with other garmins: http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Geocaching Make sure your software from Garmin is updated on your gps, you'll run the Garmin WebUpdater program, then just create a PQ and download it. I usually open two finder windows (1. my downloaded folder & 2. the GPX folder on your Garmin or the Garmin's SD Card, wherever you put your GPX files) and simply drag and drop the 2 GPX files from your PQ into that folder. The two GPX files are the individual caches and the waypoints. If you want to download individual GPX files to your Garmin, you'll have to use Safari. I typically use Chrome as my browser but it isn't compatible with Garmins/Geocaching for downloading caches. Quote Link to comment
