Colors of roads and trails

I have both Mapsource and Basecamp,both show all my maps and the colors of roads and trails are the same on both.

I use Mapsource for my Garmin 76csx and Basecamp for my Garmin Etrex 30,but when I view the same map area on both gps units,neither of them show the exact road and trail colors displayed on Basecamp or Mapsource and the 76csx shows slightly different than the Etrex as well,any way to change the displayed colors on the units,I havent tried loading both units from Basecamp to see if they match each other,thx

Color data as well as other things, are contained in a TYP file in the mapset. Different handhelds display this info differently depending on the number of colors that the display is capable of (and resolution).

 

Just google for "typ editor" and you should be able to find out all you need to know about this and how to make the changes you desire.

That's a bit off. A typ file will change the way something is dsplayed from its default. There is a default way the GPS will draw a feature. It will draw all maps that way unless there is a typ file that tells the GPS to draw certian features differently.
