+Pointme2
Since yesterday morning, we're not able to link to a cache from any notification email coming from gc.com. Below is the error we get when clicking on the link for the cache. Same issue on 3 different computers. Links work on our cell phones. We've talked to a couple different cachers, and they're experiencing the same problem. Anyone else having this issue? Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. +Talks2Dinosaurs
I am experiencing the exact same problem! Sure hope this gets fixed soon. Will continue to read through the forums to see if there is a solution to this. It's very annoying. I should add that this has been going on for me for several days. +The A-Team
I can't duplicate this. I've closed my browser entirely, opened a notification email in Outlook, clicked the link, and it opens up my browser and displays the cache page just fine. Is there something different I need to do to replicate the issue? If not, then I can report it's working fine here, and has been for the last couple of hours. Quote Link to comment

I just tried it again (at 2:25 PM E.S.T.) and it's still not working. Tried opening from Windows Live mail (using a gmail address), as well as logging into gmail on the internet, and it still gave me the error code when clicking on the link to "Visit the traditional cache" from the email. I am able to click on the link to the Profile and that works, but nothing else. When clicking on the "Visit the log Entry", I get this message: Object moved to here. +DanPan
Same issue here, started two days ago. I have the feeling the issue only happens with links in mail notifications, which using http://coord.info/gcxxxxx AND you do not have IE already running OR IE is your default browser. Links to caches: error "Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found." Links to log entries: error "Object moved to here. - 404 - File Not Found We're sorry, the page you are looking for could not be found." Links to profiles: OK ! Works fine if your default browser is Google Chrome. Edited August 25, 2012 by DanPan Quote Link to comment
+BooDogMama
My husband, Paracelsus has been having this problem. I am not. I am on Vista 64 Bit i.e. 9.0.8112.16421 He is on I.E. 8 (some version) on XP. He has cleared cookies, temp files, yadda, yadda, yadda .... My email sessions are working just fine. He even gets the error if he manually types in http://coord.info/GCnnnnn in the address bar. Something to do with the redirect website? The funny thing is that my redirected URL is: http:// www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCnnnnn. I thought it used to look like: http:// www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=ddb9dd9b-e362-4540-b5fe-f672caba9d5b (That's the link to Leap of Faith cache that someone mentioned in a forum log somewhere GC1HETQ ) Did some code change in the redirect area to now point to wp=GCnnnn instead of guid=GCnnnn Edited August 25, 2012 by BooDogMama Quote Link to comment

+GeoGrandpa
This is still an issue. Using IE8, Thunderbird E-mail, Windows XP SP3. Not a problem using Google Chrome. Quote Link to comment
+ILuvAZ
I wish geocaching would formally acknowledge this issue to the user community and give an ETA of when they will fix it. It is getting very annoying. I should not have to search the forums to find out if it is an issue. Typing "404 - File Not Found' in search just gets me the "used 3 letter search terms" error. This is getting old. Geocaching.com needs to get their act together. I am still upset that the maps don't work as well as they used to, which has been happening for almost a year. Tired of paying for a broken product. Quote Link to comment
+GeoGrandpa
I found a new way to generate the HTTP 404 Error. Create a hyperlink in Excel to "http://coord.info/GCxxxxx". With IE8 closed, click on the link and I get the error message "Unable to open http://coord.info/GCxxxxx. The Internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found. (http/1.0 404)". Click on the link a second time and the cache page opens. Quote Link to comment
+Corfman Clan
Any word on this? It is really annoying. At least when it does occur, I know to open a browser window to geocaching.com then everything works. Quote Link to comment

+rcm999
I've been getting the same exact thing - and the same work around. If the browser is already open, then there is no problem. If the email link has to open it, then the error occurs. I've been getting it about three weeks now. Quote Link to comment

Moun10Bike
We have been working on this and thought we had it nailed with last week's release. It appears that it is still occurring in some instances, however. I have re-opened the issue in our database. Quote Link to comment

+hzoi
I have experienced this for the past couple months. At work, using IE 8 and Yahoo! web mail. Interestingly, the same redirect link will work the second time I try it, regardless of whether I still have geocaching.com open or not. As long as it's tried and failed the redirect once, it appears to work subsequently. Very odd. Quote Link to comment
+wiifly
I have been having the same problems with the same results and tried the same fixes with the same results as given in previous entries. I have one additional piece of information. The following is an example entry: Visit this log entry at the below address: http://coord.info/GL9KQ80H Visit Traditional Cache RS1000: http://coord.info/GC3YZ8N When I click on the GL link, I get a page that states that the site has been moved to here. When I click on "here" (the link), it takes me to a page that gives me the link to the GC that I am searching for. This is about three extra steps to access the page that I am searching for. I hope this helps to track down the problem. Quote Link to comment
+GeoGrandpa
The problem continues, even after two rounds of Web site updates. This must really be a hard problem, but it's also a pain. Quote Link to comment

+FloridaJim
Trying to view my lists (Your Lists) using Chrome without success. When I roll the mouse over the link, it changes color, but the indicated link at the bottom of the window is my dashboard (do loop) www.geocaching.com/account/dashboard#. When I roll over any other link, ie: watchlist, the indicated link shows www.geocaching.com/my/watchlist.aspx. If I manually enter https//www.geocaching.com/my/yourlists.aspx, I get a code Error 404: DNF. This is the only link on my profile page with issues. I'm going to try it with other browsers and see if I have access to my lists. I'm having Chrome issues on one other site, but don't think it's related. Ten hours later...logging into the site via Safari on my iPad I now see a new tab on my dashboard under statistics, souvenirs, and leaderboard called my lists, but my watchlist and favorites list has disappeared. Guess I'll go to bed and check what the Lackeys do overnight. Edited March 4, 2019 by FloridaJim Update... Quote Link to comment
